    Default Black screenshots?

Does anyone know why my screenshots just show up black? I hit printscreen, and it seems to create a tga file of about 2mb but when i try to open it in either Nero or Gimp it just shows up as black?

    Turn of Anti-Aliasing.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

With Anti-Alaising on some of the tga files are OK but most are not. I prefer to use fraps (www.fraps.com) or simply to a ctrl+alt+printscreen and paste into Corel Paint Shop Pro (you could paste into Gimp or Micrisoft Paint - both are free).

Maybe you just have to take the lens cap off?

I turned anti-aliasing off but I still get a black screenshot. Is ctrl+alt+printscreen different than just printscreen?

I have Gimp but it also shows up black when i load the tga file.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

ctrl+alt+printscreen puts the image on the 'clipboard'. It's then necessary to paste it into something. That something can be paint, paint shop pro, gimp or even a word document.

If you just want to press a key to get an image then I'd suggest fraps (www.fraps.com) - it's free and you can control where the screens go. Also with the trial (i.e. free) version you can record 30 seconds of movies. If you pay the one-off license this limit is removed.

    Brusilov,

Cheers that did the trick. EternalSlayer check out FRAPS. Works for me.

There's another problem I have linked to that. That is that I can only minimise the game via Alt+Tab three times during a session, otherwise the game does not load up again and completely messes up my PC. Does anyone else experience this and how could it be fixed?

Why don't you post this question in the technical help thread?

You've also added another technical question in a thread that is clearly about why some players get black screen shots.

When I use PrintScreen, I always have to paste it in Paint. With MIITW it works just fine, but when I try in RTW, my TGA-folder stays empty...
You could also register on Xfire (www.xfire.com), then you can make also screenshots, not TGA but PNG, which makes it easier to publish them on the internet. (they are automatically placed in a special folder) You could try it.
    Vale,

    EternalSlayer,

I have the same problem so I just dont bother minimising during a game session. Have you got Vista? I do and i think its part of the problem.

That seems to be the problem then, thanks Coldcall.
