    Default Custom Victory Conditions???

Have you guys ever considered changing the victory conditions on a per faction basis along the lines of what that faction accomplished or could reasonably be expected to have accomplished in history? Is this even possible in M2TW or Kingdoms? The generic take X_territories conditions are great if you blitz the map, but I get bored of campaigns very quickly this way. I think custom victory conditions would make for a more enjoyable game long term, as blitzing the map cuts out most of the enjoyable parts of the game (plus it's too easy) One could wait to take X_territories til later in the game, but I usually get bored after expanding so far that the unrealistic size just kinda gets on my nerves.

    Just a thought.

Gotta agree with you on that one, I am usually getting bored of campaigns (leon-castille,scots and now templars) after I conquer 30 provinces, I waste all my cash on armies and I have no time nor funds to put some cash into buildings... Making the campaigns, IDK around 600-800 turns would be superb at least I'd have time to build something.

Completely agreed... I find it quite unrealistic sometimes to expand so far, and very boring, there should be other victory conditions but that isn't possible as far as I know...

Well, Victory conditions make sure that the Ai fight with eachother,

For example: England need Caen to win, as do France

so therefore they fight eachother easier,

However I agree it becomes boring - espeically since i don't want Caen!

agreed, I am sure that at least half the countries werent looking to rule the world. The goals should be realistic.

I personly wouldnt mind it if the goal would simply be to survive untill the last turn, and hold all the provinces that make up the faction at that point in order to win. In some cases it would be different though. I am sure England would want the british isles, and the Iberian factions would want their reconquesta.

For a faction as Venice obtaining a certain amount of money could be one of the victory conditions.

The templars would want to secure all the important provinces in the holy land, the teutonic order would want Lithuania dead, The Turks and Byzantines might want to destroy each other.

And of course the highlanders must see the piramids. 10 highlander units must walk ten times around the piramids to secure victory. They shall also sacrifice three goats and a scorpion here, and they must drink the goats their blood out of the holy grail which they must find first.

Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

I think i read the victory conditions for england the first time i played MEII, since i've nevr bothered to read another. I never start a campaign with the intent to rule the world. I always set my own goals.
I'm pretty sure you can change them.

well what i would like to have fixed, at the very least, is how if you vassal your opponent it doesn't count as victory. I am playing as Norway vh/vh and i have vassaled Denmark (3 Provinces), England (They are sitting in Clermont), France, (whose last remaining city is Visby) and HRE (they have only Vienna, but own Genoa which has 6 provinces, but are not my vassal somehow) I am trying to conquer provinces in Novgorod to allow France to regrow in a new land as my eastern puppet since I really don't want Russia. I just don't like that i have to betray and kill vassals which don't even have territory in their original homelands and are absolutely not a threat in anyway. I play short campaigns so that i only have to get a small number of territories, but it would be nice if after i get victory conditions I could just release territories back to my vassals and just focus on raiding so that I don't have to control so many provinces.

To be completely honest though I think victory conditions are a waste I mean its not like you can "win" as a nation in real life, I mean Luxembourg may be a small irrelevant one province nation, but its not like it "lost" To really win as I see it you would have to have the best standard of living, not just 70 or 25 arbitrary provinces, or destroy a certain nation. having victory conditions ruins gameplay in my opinion. What if I am the templars and I wish to carve out an existence on Visby and just raid random countries??? should I be penalized by the game ending because i did not eliminate factions that now on my Gottlandish existence, have no meaning what to me whatsoever???

i always change the victory conditions to only the settlements that my faction either owned historically or had major interest in owning. It makes the game more historical plus gives you more doable goals than the take 70 settlement goal which for a mod like SS is very difficult to do and forces you to blitz

Historicly survival, millitairy might, a strong economy and influence would be important.

I live in the Netherlands and we where one of the most powerfull nations at some point even while we didnt have much land. Trade, banking and a strong navy where enough.

I dont think any other country had that much power compared to such a small size through history. We didnt have much colonies, we build up to trade and not to settle.

This is after the medieval ages though, and will hopefully be shown in empires total war.
