    Default Hebrew stuff

Hi there. Been playing your mod for a little while now and enjoying myself immensely. But as I played I noticed various innacuracies regarding various hebrew words, primarily for the cartheginians. I.e various terms are written wrong, and really sound and written differently. Much of it sounds quite funny and ridiculous to a hebrew speaker like myself.

So I was wondering if you would be interested in some corrective suggestions. After all, its quite rare to have an ancient language still in use today.

    Cheers

They're Punic though, with recourse to Hebrew and other linguistical relatives where surviving data fails, ain't they...?

Well I guess, but many unit names and terms are distinctively hebrew. From seeing it I assume the developers didn't know exactly how these words are pronounced.

For example: the season autumn is written as 'stab' when it really should be 'stav'. Easily confusable as there is one letter that is used for both b and v.

It sounds similar because both Punic and Hebrew are Semetic Languages.

The same similarities exist in Indo-European Languages. For example in Armenian the word for Summer is Amar It is practicaly the same word with just the "s" missing.

This is just one little example of same family languages

It's a small world: Amor in spanish is love. Amar is the verb form, To Love.

The Carthaginian names are not Hebrew. They are Phoenician.
There was a few Hebrew names and words used in the Saby'n faction, but the Carthaginians use ancient Punic, which just happens to look like incorrect Hebrew.

YES!!! that is what I said a couple of posts ago. They sound similar because they are both semetic languages. IT IS PHOENICIAN AND NOT HEBREW EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS LIKE HEBREW.

One will find the same things in say German and Swedish, French and Italian.

MarcusAureliusAntoninus, this post is not ment to be negative towards yours, I just wanted to restate what I had said a couple of posts ago in which you basicaly said the same thing.

    Myabe not.
I couldn't understand only 2 words in that link mrelad posted. Dorkin and Aanatim... Which I figured meant Spearmen and Infantry. They're somewhat similiar to the Hebrew words for People and Stabbers, though (Anashim, Dokrim).

    PS.
The guy translated "Sacred Band Cavalry" into "The Holy Knights of Astertes" (whatever the name of that goddess is). In Hebrew her name is Ashteret, not Asterte.
It seems the only difference between many Punic and Hebrew words is merely the way the letters S and P are pronounced. In Hebrew they are pronounced Sh and Ph (atleast in those specific words).
That's even more similiar than Hebrew and Arabic! *stunned*

*Yeah I know this post is old
