That is a hardcoded bug associated with having huge walls. Afraid you can't fix it.
well drats...foiled again

Do you have the battle level on the hardest?
Is that bad? Should it be played Campaign Very Hard, Battle Hard?
in vita mea
As Korlon has posted it's a known hardcoded problem in RTW.
I find that if I build four towers then at half of them will allow my units to get into the towers. Just hope that if if a tower is destroyed by the defenders that wasn't the tower that was allowed to be used. What I dislike is that the stuck units cannot be moved away from the tower.
In order to draw fire away from a tower I will send two towers in together either side of a settlement tower. If I send two towers against the gateway I will also send a ram in to draw the fire.
Make sure you also build sapping points if they are available and that you have the units that can sap (so no HA army).

well thats what i thought but in Very hard no units ever run. They are like the most courageous guys ever. Even in hard they only run when they have 10 max or so.
If i put it on medium will it affect the morale and THE SMARTNESS of the AI??
i don't want to lower morale but lower how the AI acts smartly, etc
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all..."we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA

An option to choose which formations. Sounds Great.

I just play the battles at medium, as I find hard to understand how can a phalanx still fight after being charged from behind by cavalry (on very hard).
Speaking of formations. I was looking through my old pictures I have taken of this mod. And I came across this one. I have marked with arrows where I personally put units at. The rest was set up by me clicking on one of the formation buttons.
Also u know this is an older version of RS due to the unit sizes. All the Auxilia units have numbers of 242 and 241. Compared to 1.5a in which they have been lowered to 202. Also the first cohort is at 202 not 1.5a's 243. So yea just wanted to know if this was the older formation?
Notice that they are in a checkboard formation. This was taken on August 16, 2007

In the last set of fixes that will come out for RS1.5, I have included as an option Darth's last Formations for RTW, version 16, edited for use correctly with RS. Although I like Sinuhet's formations better, I have found in testing Darth's that the AI is a bit more aggressive when YOU attack THEM. Sinuhet's formations have almost all...or at least a far greater proportion...of units 'defending' when you attack them. This seems to result in more 'standing there doing absolutely nothing' when the player attacks the AI. Even the missle units will just wait for you to make a move.
Darth's units, however, seem to be more 'aggressive'....and although they will wait a bit, I find that the AI will attack sooner.
These 'optional' Darth formations will be in the '_important_stuff' folder under 'formations'. I would not advise just grabbing Darth's formations and throwing them into RS1.5.........I had problems with them for a long time because of all the faction changes in RS. You will get CTD's.

I just got RS intstalled today and looking in the importants stuff folder for darth formations and its not there. Wandering if I did something wrong.
Because the patch with the formations hasn't been released.

Eh, any idea how long for the patch so use to using those formations with pve and darthmod.
It is like in BBW the AI is very aggressive too especially on the roman frontiers for an example:- the Germania superior, Germania Inferior and Italy were constantly under-attack by Germania and they skipped all my forts and threatened my important cities and italy.
One more thing too is that if you piss the AI off then the Aggression is pretty bad lol ask anyone who has played against the AI in BBW, which is similar to the darth mod in terms of Aggression. It is like you can never have enough troops to keep the frontiers safe and the only solution to that is annihilation of your neighbouring enemies.
Invasions of certain areas like Britainnia too and many other areas are tough too, but i am sure the AI RS 2.0 will be as tough or more dangerous than the Darth mod and BBW right?
