    Icon14 [Addon]DLV Battle Enhancer 1.2

    This Addon includes...


    RomanStory's New Animation Pack
    new Cavalry Charging Animation
    new Infantry's Bashing Animation
    and much more new Animation...


    -changed from 1.2
    Modified Ultimate Battle AI 1.2 (Tweaked for DLV 5.4)
    Lowered accuracy of personal missile weaponary for balance issue.

    EDU file from ivanhoex's Unit Calculator 2.03 + EDU
    Thanks to ivanhoex, Now Pike issues in DLV is no more problem!



    How to Install?

    You need DLV 5.4 + fixpack02 + Isilendil's Submod v5 to play this

    Download (1.0)

    then install 1.2 patch attached in this thread.


    Animation Pack in this Addon is worth enough to include as default in future DLV version
    as much as my Historical Map addon does. I hope you like my addons!

    As I know, Niko's HardGame mod already adopted AnimationPack which is same one of my addon.

    If you want to use this without Isilendil's, Extract all files except EDU file.

    Extract the DLV_Ext folder to your desktop and navigate into the data folder. Find the file "export_descr_unit.txt" and delete it. Copy the DLV_Ext folder into the MTW2 directory where DLV is located.

    I down loaded this part last night and I must say that it is a good addon.
    The only thing that I found weird is that the horses after a charge run through the unit the are attacking and just sit around away from the fighting. I was wondering if you could tone this down at all? Maybe shorten the distance that they run after the initial contact.
    Also, during infantry fights 1v1 the Ai sometimes separates and then recharges. They will do this multiply times.
    I did notice that there are a lot more "finishing" moves preformed by the infantry which I really enjoyed.

    tomorrow i ll be at home, send me the edu of a clear dlv install and i will make a fixed one for you


    besides i will place some little changes on pikes that are not yet deployed in version 2.03

    Ah, now I understand what you meant.
    Unfortunately, Animation Pack in my addon is not my work.
    RomanStory made this Animation Pack (and I got his permission to use for sure!)so If you intend to add Niko's flag carriers to DLV, I'll tell him about it.

    hi

    there is a problem somewhere deep in formations_ai



    when i attack with 2h swords on pikes, pikes wont hold defensive but they will walk towards the incoming infantry while they keep shouting "stop advance" they also change the 5 row formation to a 8 rows one


    pikes are working quite fine when facing cav charges


    i will change all formations that contains a phalanx unit to guard mode, apparently its harder for them to give their buttocks to the enemy if they are in guard mode... gotta re check it anyway

    and off course all spears or halbs involved in the same formation module will get the guard mode wanted or not so maybe there is another way to do this, i dont know.


    edit: in fact i havent found yet where phalanxes are NOT in default_melee_mode defend...
    dont know what happend



    edit: the real problem with 2handers is that pikes do not brace in time. that is not fixed by any of the modifications i have tested (charge distance in EDU, bracing_time in battle_ai_config, skeleton compensation in EDU, time to phalanx in batle ai)

    fortunately enough, they DID brace in time back with DLV vanilla battle configs so there must be a different setting on this that triggers the solution.

    unfortunately, i have not such files unless i run again the DLV installation

    First battle with this added in I was playing Byzantium. I had my faction leader lead in a force him, 2 of the initial spearmen and two of the initial archers. The rebel army had a named general and 4 units of the same spearmen I had (sorry I can't remember what they are called and I'm at work so I can't check, they are the ones that Byzantium armies begin with like the archers are). Anyway. The spearmen stood there while my archers killed them to the last man. They didn't move, just can't shouting advance advance! After they were done the archers got afew vollies out on the general unit who also stood there. He stood there until my general charged him, after the charge THEN he finally started to fight back but it was pretty much over.

    I tried a couple of battles and the new and more frequent combos and finishing moves is a nice touch, i like it a lot, but the AI combat is the same for me as Tilarium discribed it.The AI had no reaction at all to my archers.The enemy just died where they stood and did nothing.The AI never even sent their archers to counter.At the end of the battle u can see how the enemies formation was by looking at the corpses, they never budged until more then half the army was shot down, then they retreated.My archers were the only ones doing the killing and the end result of the battle ended up being 300+ kills for each of my 2 longbow squads which = 600+ dead with arrows and nothing more.So far all battles are like this when i attack.Ive also noticed a lot of other strange ai behaviour on the battlefield so im gonna try this with the original DLV AI formations.

    I agree that the AI included in 1.0 is totally Stupid. I didn't intend this but it is, sadly. Don't Worry. I already made AI Patch for my battle enchancer.
    based on Ultimate AI 1.6, I tweaked a little for more suit to my mod.

    Upload will be soon.

    Excellent to hear, yeah, saying the AI is stupid is an understatement but glad there's a fix on it's way!

    Nice submod but whenever I charge a unit of enemies with my cavalry, the cavalry will scatter all over the place when they go into melee.

    as far as i know, only requisite for my pikes to work is in formation_ai to have all appearances of phalanx in melee_default_state (or whatever its name was) set to defend

    oh and the 0.00001 for phalanx time in battle_ai_config



    that and an animation scripter to do the dirty job of giving the correct bracing to guard mode






    about chargin caussing unit dismembrance its also happening when your unit charges on a target but some of the troops get stucked in the way. a lot of them, like the first row, or the first and second, do the charge as normal but the rest just stays in initial position so the unit splits up... anyway im glad you want to do the research to find DLV the best battle ai out there

    btw, the animation of dismounted huscarls is way too powerfull on charge time.

    im not sure (even after a week of playin with this) what makes it so, charge value is set to 3 but maybe skeleton compensation set to 2 was what made it so impressive.

    if its not that, then maybe a new animation is triggered on charge time and it executes together with old animation making double (maybe triple) charge damage.
