Default Can you turn off the abilitiy to use cheats?

I wouldnt be suprised if this was the stupidest question you all have read today, maybe all month but....i decided to play around with cheats during my playthrough and now i find myself uncapable of not using them when i know that i simply can and it would just solve my problem in the stroke of a few keys...I guess will power could be the answer but....i fail

I really regret doing this during my first playthrough, and knowing that it would regretably ruin the enjoyment of this game

Welcome to the forums!! I'm a firm advocate of not cheating in a game unless it's one you've had for a long time, otherwise you're wasting your money in my view and as you've said, it spoils your enjoyment of the game as there is no longer any sense of achievement or satisfaction. I asked this question in an eariler thread, but I don't think there is a way to do it, short of destroying the key that brings up the console (seriously though, don't do that! It's not worth ruining your keyboard over!!!!! ) Just play the game without cheating, or if you must have a bit of help, edit the descr_strat file, look for the 'kings purse' value for your chosen faction and increase it a bit, that way you get a bit more money without feeling like you're outright cheating. Path: Medieval II root folder (wherever you've installed it), data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign and then find the descr_strat file in there and edit it accordingly. Back it up first whatever you do, just in case something goes wrong. Or you can add some money at the beginning of a campaign and don't do it again until the next campaign you start. I know it's tempting to cheat in the game, but resist and the game is so much more fun!

Any time you want to cheat, type in toggle_fow, look at the map for a minute, then turn it back off.

Don't go cold turkey, get you a quick fix to hold you over without ruining your playthrough, then keep going.
