Default Quick question regarding EB v1.0

First of all, huge project and congrats guys
    good work.

Now my dilemma seems to be my video card or summthing.
I have a raddeon 9550 if by all means im sure.
And if so, what could be a good video card to handle it?
is it enuff to handle EB?

I dl eb v1.0 started playing Rome camping
    Good start and all
But my game seems to lag a lot, like a bit slow if so.

Is it because you guys have added more details to the cmp map?
    like forts, cities, more forests?

    Second..
once i finish playing for a bit, you know..
I go back to my windows desktop and it tells me I have low virtual memoery minimum?
ANyonw has this same problem? How can I fix it?

    Why does that appear..
game has too much specs for my pc or video card?
    Virtual memory iissue?

How much RAM do you have? What kind of processor do you have? Your graphics card isn't very good.

The campaign map is slow due to all the scripts that are present, not really due to the graphics.

There are tons of graphics cards that may be good, but it's how good you want it that is in question.

EB is a HUGE game, the script alone is 12MB!!

RAM is the key to a fluid campaign, I used to have 512MB & suffered the same issue as you with low virtual memory. I now have 2gig RAM and use an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT Graphics Card - EB runs with no problems at all.

I would suggest upgrading your RAM.

I have 512 mb too and since I manually set the virtual memory to a larger value EB loads a lot faster and I have no more critical memory issues...of course the best way is still to get at least 1 gb of RAM

To what value, would you suggest to increase my virtual memory?

The ones that know have'nt responded yet, so here's my comp. illiterate solution...............
    1. Throw another stick of RAM on the Barbie. Did wonders for my little compaq's performance.
    2. Start deleting programs you don't use any more. Frees up space.
    3. Run defrag and disk saver progams.
    4. Close all other programs while playing EB. Saves RAM memory.
    5. Upgrade videocard & hardrive. (Get a new rig )
    6. Check EB threads theirs a guide that covers this stuff.

Hope this helps, I'm comp. illiterate so don't mind me.

    No Worries.......... &

Thnkas a lot dudes, you've been really helpful.

I have a 512mb ram, so it may seem that is the problem.
also it seems the video card aint that good.

    One more thing.
Okay I have that video card stated above, which one could be a good upgrade?

Second, if I have 512mb ram, does that mean i have to change my whole motherboard?
how much would that go about?
for a Windows XP pentium 4. 512 ram 3 GHZ and the ATI radeon 9550 i have?

Well Nvidia is a top brand, so I would start there. It all depends on your budget though, the latest series is the 9000's - but you don't need those!! I would suggest looking at 8600 or the 7000's series. The 'GT' models are superior so go for those over 'GTS' models. Also when buying a new graphics card make sure you know your Motherboard compatability - Have you got AGP or PCI slots?

You don't have to change your entire Motherboard - most MB's will have an 'empty' slot available for you too upgrade your RAM - again you need to ascertain the type of slot you have, is it DDR/DDR2 etc etc. Also if you have 'DIMM' slots your RAM cards need to be the same size ie: you have to have 512MB AND 512MB you can not have say 512MB & 1GIG this will fry your MB.

Motherboards on the whole are not that expensive a good one will set you back £70.00.

A good Nvidia Graphics Card will be approx £70.00 - £100.00

A word of warning, if you are unfamiliar with upgrading a Motherboard, seek help, one wrong turn and you could end up damaging your PC - Take Care
