    Default Rebels with Diplomacy

Is there a way to give the slave faction ordinary diplomacy options, i.e. as with other factions?

The one thing I HATE about EB is that whenever you start a new campaign you have to spend 50 or so turns fighting rebels (= constant sieges) before you get to the good stuff -killing other factions.

If slave have ordinary diplomacy I can use Force Diplomacy to set up "proper" national borders from the get-go. e.g. give Rome all Italy, Gaul Gaul, Spain Spain, Carthage Africa, Germany Germany, Britain Britain.

To be honest, you'd really be wasting your time. If you give the rebels diplomacy, they'll go round bribing all your towns and armies with there huge amounts of cash. So it's really not worth it.

Ah. Right I must have mis-read the post. In this case, no you can't.

Oh, and it is possible to give rebels diplomats.

Even when the rebels have diplomats it is impossible to initiate any diplomacy other than bribing with them. When they have diplomats they can intiate diplomacy and ask you for things, but most of the time they simply bribe all of your stuff.

Besides, the rebels represent independant nations, sometimes not even a people who have complete control of a single province. It would be odd to make peace with the entire world, with the exception of the 19 most powerful nations.

When fighting rebels, don't think of them as nonsense in your way, think of them as a faction that controls only that one province (or less). This is what EB seeks to represent with powerful rebels.
