    Default Small flag officers mod

    Officer mod for SS5.1 with Real Combat 1.5


    This Mod will add 3 captains to almost every unit in the game.
    Normally those are 2 officers that carry flags and one normal captain.

    Version history :

    Current Version 2a:

    Version 2a
    fixed elephant units (no officer allowed)
    fixed greek flametrhrower 'ghost captain'
    fixed Templar bodyguard white flags'


    Version 2
    Added late flag captains both western and eastern versions
    Added Rusian captains & Generals
    Added Byzantium captains & Generals
    Added Different other Officers (related to Military Orders & royal officers)

    Bug Correction:
    Corrected Western mercenary Officers carying Eastern Flags


    Previous version 1
    2 officers that carry flags and one generic captain are added to almost every unit.


    The officers are from the excelent hardgame1_3 mod from NIKO aka MAXHARDMAN and uses his textures for that.
    Some SS5.1 factions are not covered in this work so might now show correct flags yet, where possible i used textures from other factions but some might still be missing.
    Atm I'm trying to learn myself Photoshop to create these myself but that might take some time yet and I do not want to let you wait for that long ;-)


    Word of warning the export_descr_unit.txt file in this mod is the one used in the Real Combat 1.5 version made by Point Blank
    If you do not use his mod then your game might crash due to missing/incorrect entries in the descr_mount.txt & desc_projectile.txt
    (You could also rename the included edu.txt to export_descr_unit.txt that is using the usual free upkeep units used in SS 5.1)

    Download the zip from:

    Install :

    Backup all involved files first !


    Copy the file export_descr_unit.txt to the Stainless Steel data folder
    Copy the file battle_models.modeldb and the folders to \data\unit_models\

    I think his fixpack uses all files from RC 1.5 so I think it should work fine.
    (Real recruiting is not needed for my files to work)

    really? but echads fixpack does not include RR.The EDU is different, I thinklol

    rofl man I been working on this for months.
    Oh well, -toss aways-

    I was having constant CTD with some missing meshes.
    + Quad Trillion Rep
    Another Quad Trillion when the animation comes out.

    I tried this mod and its such a great idea but sooo ugly. The flags look like cardboard on poles. If there was a way to animate these flags then i'd surely use it again.
    On another note, I know that in the release post it said it wasnt 100% finished, but playing as England i hade mercinery mace men from france with islamis flags... made me feel strage in my tummy.....in the bin it goes!

    Also, Noway flag need fixing. Weird Phantom flag.

    To LordN00ke : I mentioned already RR is not needed what is needed is the correct descr_mount.txt & desc_projectile.txt which are also in echads fixpack if im correct.

    To Tobo and aion2006 as i mentioned it is not done yet. The making of textures is not my cup of tea im more a 'coding guy'
    If someone can improve on this then by all means do :-)
    But as far as im aware the flags cannot be made animated however it would be nice if someone proved me wrong.

    You can use Niko's orriginal mod that is much better then this but it will install other things also which you might not like if you like to play Stainless steel as it is now.
    My aim is to just adapt the officers to SS without changing anything else.

    battle_models.modeldb and export_descr_unit.txt are all I need right?

    Echad's latest fix pack uses Real Combat 1.41, it'll still work right?

    The other files are the texture files that you need to display the new officers models and flags so you willneed them otherwise you will get only ghosts as officers.
    I included 2 edu files in the current release the export_descr_unit.txt is from the latest version of Realcombat the 2nd named edu.txt is closer to the one shipping with echad's latest fixpack but it is an upgrade to Real combat 1.5 instead of 1.41
    So people using Echad's fix pack should rename the edu.txt and rename it to export_descr_unit.txt and use that one

    I did some revamping on this mod, its pretty Awesome. I removed the 'problem' officers and flags. Although it ditracts from Kiev a tad, at least we don't get weird non-flags now.

    Thanks goes to knoess who did all the hardwork!!!! This is his mod, and he has all rights and privileges to it. All I've done is remove the problem officers. There was also a glitch in the northern_captain model, which I've fixed with M2TW default one.

    This should be save game compatible, however since it is adding units ALL PREVIOUSLY TRAINED UNITS in the campaign will have to be re-trained.

    if you don't want to do that: then start a new campaign.

    Hi Firebat can you tell me what is the glitch ? or post a screenshot ?
    I tried at my system and they seem to work fine so im not sure what to fix exactly in the next release.

    Hi Firebat11,
    Thanks for working on this , however did you work on my version 2 or on version 1 since in the version 2 i used rusian textures for kievan, sicily for templars etc for the other specific SS new factions so all should have had good flags, not historical correct ones but close ;-)
    I will certainly check your files but I'm afraid i will not have much time the comming week to really get into it

    Edit: I checked and i see you did use my version 2 so for version 3 I will need to dig into them deeper to see to make those also work.
    I will change the link in my first post to point to your corrected version, appreciate your help and i invite anyone to help out also it would f.e. be awsome if Aion2006 would find out how to make those banners really move

    I thought you did excellent work. I hope you get the northern_captain model working because I don't like the default M2TW one.

    Also a couple of units for Norway...the officers helmets are incomplete and are see-through. I didn't touch those ones though.

    Looking forward to working together for future projects if possible.
