    Default Replacement spartan unit

I know its not accurate but i was wondering if the ATG Spartan pack will work or if there is any other spartan units that i can replace the original with. I just hate watching them wearing a cereal bowl and walking around in my bed sheets thanks for your help.

Your bed sheets are red?! Don`t tell that in public.
I don`t think the ATG spartans will work in RTR. Iirc they contain text files for vanilla which can`t be compatible with the ones in RTR. Basically any unit for this game engine will work with RTR, but you have to manually implement it in the text files. The unit itself is just a bunch of graphic files that would be ignored by the game if you simple place them in it. See this:

I recommend KLA's Spartan hoplite from his 2.0 pack: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...o=file&id=1525

I believe the late Hellenistic one is the most realistic available, and it's the one I'll be using in the next ExRM version (they didn't fight in their famous red capes).

Ya i dont know what it is but i cant find the right data folder i can only find the vanilla folder is that the right one? or is there a RTR data folder? It also wont let me save when i tried placing the unit info in their proper places. So i guess my question is where can i if possible get to a RTR data folder quickly without dealing with the old vanilla files?

Is your question related to the spartan swap or the ExRM?

Are you using the mod-foldered version of RTRPE? If so then your path would look something like this...
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly or Activision\Whatever you call your installation\RTRPE\Data
If your not using the mod-foldered version, then the "vanilla data folder" is the folder your looking for. When you say your unable to save, do you mean you cannot save edited text files? That's rather odd. On the bright side though, you can use ATG Spartans in RTR and any other mod for that matter as florin80 mentioned. You just have to add them in within the file structures correctly. I use them in EB as they happen to be my favorite Spartans modeled by anyone for RTW. Those units look way too good to let a little something like historical accuracy get in the way of watching them kick some ass on the battlefield.

    That's the ATG Bronze Spartan.

Quinn Inuit, I am not sure about the emblem on the shield (of the Spartan hoplite officer), did they fight with a swirl displayed on the shield? Also, did Spartans have tresses?
Aside from the shield (and the tresses I never saw before), the hoplite officer is very well modeled, so are the Spartan heavy hoplite and other versions.

I'd also recommend the Spartan from the XGM mod, the ones that take 30 turns to make. However, those have red capes.

This guy here is the closest to accurate for the time period of RTR:

Yes, the Spartans had dread locks. It's where the term originated, with the Spartans. Usually they had 4 or 8 in front and the same number in back. At least that was the fashion at one point. In the time period of RTR the Spartans utilized the inverted 'V' or Greek letter "Lamda" as their shield emblem. In earlier times, such as during the Persian Wars (Thermopylae, the '300', etc.), the Spartan king used the spiral "Apollo" sunray as his shield emblem, as Apollo was the patron deity of Sparta. At that time each Spartan regiment (mora) had its own shield emblem, such as the boar, gorgon, peacock, leopard, raven, and others. But to clarify, the image above is what you want to use for the most accuracy for the Spartans of the RTR period, not the "Spartan commander" variant.

No idea about the officer. KLA may just have done him to be different, although he did a lot of research for that pack so it may be based on some art. I meant to recommend the basic hoplite, the one labeled Late Spartan Hoplite.
