Ways to cheat at a multiplayer SinglePC hotseat game that has lasted 4 months

Long title,

A few of you may remember a while back I had a game with me and two other people. I went to war with one from the start.... allowing the other (greece) to take over Macedon and basicly recreate Alexanders empire.

He is now by far the number 1 faction. I am number 2. The other guy (carthage) is dying, and I should have him gone soon.


Now, the way things are looking, he may win. I CANT let this happen. I tried to tell him it was because of the trade on the agean, and the fact that me and other player were at war for so long.... but he wouldn't listen. I am sick of his treachery and disrespect of Rome.

I've just discovered that I can raise/lower the troop upkeep while playing the game (in export_descr_unit i think)... So Im going to raise his a lil while lowering mine... Then cut off trade with him.... then infect some of cities with plague... then start helping Selecid and bactria without him knowing.

They are both unaware that I can do this.

Anyway, can anyone else think of any ways I can bring him down. With hacking the game and such.

OH and one more thing, We have two campains, a new one on my pc and an old one (the one im talking about) on my bros pc.... so I need it to be easily movable.... for example with the troop upkeep I can just move the export_descr_unit file over w/o them knowing........

well thats cheap, i didn't know you could do hotseat, i wish someone would have told me this when i asked this a while ago, could anyone possible tell me how to do this, because i've been trying to figure it out my self and only screw up the game, so yea

anyways how bout you and carthage boy stop duking it out, ally and NOT hack, and just destroy him from you on north and carthage on south, no duh and then you and carthage and kick each others a** again

Well I'm going to look past the fact that it's cheesy and against moral, and help you bring them down!

1. Spawn armies by script/console

2. Increase building costs for them.

3. As a last resort, mixture with files to give an CTD to render the game unplayable.

Hi,

You could change the campaign difficulty level to very high, using Rome Sage (maybe someone can give the link, can't find it anymore ). This would make it very hard to remain the order in his settlements (due to his giant empire and distance to capitol). You won't kave any large problems, because you're smaller. Don't forget to set it back to an easyer (english?) difficulty level ones your getting the upper hand. Hope that will work!

Hi,

RomeSage only works with RTW 1.2 based mods. It doesn't work (or causes other problems) when used with later versions of the game.

I too am playing a hotseat campaign with my friends and i am getting massacred so it would also be good to know how to cheat.

I find that changing the files only work before you start a game. Anyone know how to make the files work when the game has already started. How do i cheat without using the console??

I think some people should really have a good think about what they are trying to do here. You claim to be playing with some friends but want to cheat them?

It's only a game. What will happen if your friends find out that you've been cheating them? Think of how you would feel if you discovered that they were doing that to you?

I can understand if they ganged up on you from the start. However, if they always do this then the simple answer is don't play with them. After all if that is all they get from the game your lack of participation will hurt them.

Maybe if you attempted to get one of them to join you in fighting the other player? Make sure you pick the weaker of the two to ally with - you can point out that the other player is far stronger than they are and they will be crushed in turn.

how do you do hotseat, i found the how you supposed to edit the script but when i put it in the folder the game doesnt work

yes i have found and done it,

but i place the script file into rtrpe folder then i intall the script into it, then i go in and do that one thing in adice script but when i try to start the game i get a ctd before it goes to main menu

still no luck

don't worry they won't get made at me if i (romans) cheat, in fact everyone will love me since he is killing everybody.

we can't really defeat him even if the rest of the players went up against him. The problem is that he (selecuids) has conquered all the east and has defeated well everyone there. the only human player alive that is holding him back is polemaic??(egypt) and he is only restricted to greece and black sea (selecuid has taken Egypt).
The truth is that he is so rich that if we gang up on him he tells the Egyptians that he will give him a vast amount of money if he attacks us...which he will do because the money is enough to crush our armies and still have more to continue the war with selecuids, crazy isn't it

He chooses it also because even if he was to join us and back stab with the amount of money selecuid gives him the probabilities of us beating him are really low. So if i am defeated i can always sum up new armies. If he is defeated, which we will probably happen then he (egypt) won't be able to summon new armies in time because of distance and selecuids, because of backstabbing will just destroy him even if he promises to attack us, because he can't be trusted anymore. this is a dilema

Its quite complicated and crazy and he is a guy that doesn't mind if we cheat actually, the more complicated for him the better (its odd i know, but i think he is toying with us and is kind of bored) but i can't cheat because other players don't want to (but they even admit that cheating is a must) yet they don't let me

The simple answer is that I don't. I accept any battle losses and will play a campaign even if it's going badly. If you start to use cheats (adding money, forcing building queues to complete or even changing the starting money for your faction) then you're not really 'playing the game' - you're doing something else. It would be a bit like a football team allowed to field more players than the other teams.

I do pick my battles carefully (using terrain features like hills/mountains which I will plant an army on). I will also do similar to a bridge if I simply want that front to be used to hold back the AI while I attack them elsewhere. Some players refuse to do this and it's against their 'house rules' (artificial ways to give the AI a bit more help).

The only thing I could do is play at a harder difficultly level. If I play as Rome I will play H/H. If you play the strategy map on VH it's actually easier than H as the AI doesn't get the cash bonus as you'd expect. I refuse to fight battles on VH as that is just plain silly to me - even the inexperienced units don't break.

Are you sure you put the correct faction names when generating the script, for example romans_julii , greek_cities etc ?
