Did the Poland prince just snag me?

So I´m playing the Danes on the Teutonic campaign. Currently I´m at war with everyone and all other factions have alliances with each other. Pretty much sux when you want a peacedeal and the only thing boosted is their self confidence

But so I saw an opening. A mission stating the polish prince (faction heir?) was tired of the kings rule and asked me to kill him. Then our factions could live togheter as brothers jadda jadda (meaning better relations I suppose).

So I look up the king on the map, send my strongest army there and massacrate the kings army down to the last man. Eager to collect the prize I get a message telling me the mission is out of date since the Polish king have perished.... wait a minute, didn´t I just kill him?

So what´s wrong here, should´t I kill the king in battle or what? Please help.

Oh and by the way, does the peace negotiation system suck or what in this game

I believe that mission is to assassinate the king rather than killing him in battle.

That has happened to me before. The Polish Prince asked me to kill his dad, so I rocked up with a massive army and owned him but then I got the mission expired so you have to assassinate him.

It's an assassin mission, because the polish prince wants’ to rule but not have war with you, so if you attack the king he has no excuses not to attack you because all of the polish soldiers know you attacked Poland.

I see. So to the next problem then. Im running out of turns to kill him (think there´s 3-4 turns left) and all I got is a mediocre assassin in the kings area which I believe have an 8-10% to assassinate the king.

So my question, if I save the game and constantly reload the game on failure, will I finally kill the king with that assasin? Approximatly it would take 10 reloads to kill the king, but that´s if not the game is fixed on the outcome of certain things or if the game "roll the dices" every new time you try to kill him?

I know it´s kind of cheating reloading, but then again the game snagged me on a couple of turns because of the bad written mission and I really need that peace

When you reload, to something else so that the assassination mission has a fresh calculation for success.

with a percentage like that i recommend you kill the prince instead.

You have to assasinate the king, NOT kill him in battle.
