    Default Small world, I guess . . .

I just got back from an academic conference at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois (beautiful campus, by the way). As I was walking through the Crown Center for the Humanities, the flash of something familiar caught my eye.

There, on a couch, a young man was sitting with his laptop. On his laptop screen was the Roma Surrectum opening screen.

Seriously, I stopped in my tracks. The woman I was walking with probably thought I was nuts as I tried to explain my fascination with this game. Unfortunately, she was not interested and I was tied up with other things or I would have introduced myself.

Just curious . . . anyone from around here?

    Regards,

Illinois RS players unite! Alas, it was not me . . .

I'm from further north. Though Loyola is indeed beautiful.

Yes, as I said, I was at a writing conference and was on my way to meet with a group of students and faculty.

Satisfying my own need to have discuss a video game (even one I love) and "meet a new friend" would only have been selfish and self-serving on my part.

You should have dashed over to him, shouted "Dude! Roma Surrectum!!!!" And then run off to your meeting.

Never under any circumstances try to explain an RTW fixation to an ''unbeliever'', might as well be try to explain why ''there is no spoon''.

It was me. JK, I live in Texas, but you might want to check the Frappr map.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."
