Default Sun Tzu says don't fight unless you have already won, so why not reward a winner...

OK, I understand a brilliant tactician is to be highly valued, but if I have a general who is 12-0, that to me is a 10 star general. I guess I would like to see more trait generation base on the fact he is a winner, period. If he is smart enough to only pick fights he is pretty sure he can win then I imagine morale would start to be high in his armies, i.e. general X always wins, so he must know we can win this one too...
    Thoughts?

Unless of course your general goes after piddly little stacks with a full stack.

    Into the mouth of Hell
    Rode the six hundred.

That's also part of the tactic. He knows to pick his fights, and always carries a biggest st(d)ick around.

well im sure all those (real life) great generals out there fought more then a dozen battles in there life to become so great. When playing as England i used Henry Plantagenet to conquer all of scandanavia (destorying both norway and denmark). He ended up with 10 command, 10 dread, 10 authority (yes he became king) and 1 piety -.- . Besides lets keep in mind it is only a game it cant be perfect, you could always look into the traits files to see what triggers certain traits, i know winning a heroic victory causes certain good traits although i modded my files slightlly

dam i think i lost track of the point somewhere...

How much does a general learn from a fight where he has overwhelming odds, compared to a fight where he has to plan every move or loose his butt? The triggers are biased towards odds of less than 1.5 to 1. But if you are saying that the traits need a bit of an overhaul, well wait for 6.

To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer.

In general, yes, in my opinion traits do need an overhaul... but not for overwhelming odds. Even having heroic victories I find it very difficult to have generals with more than 6 command stars or 6 chivalry, even releasing prisoners and only occuping settlements...

All my campaigns end up like 70+ victories for me and 1 or 2 for AI. It is not because we are brilliant, it is because AI is dumb Let's not give ourselves even more bonuses.
