this was realy important....anyone knows?
On the campaign map, put your cursor over a bridge, then if you have the english version, hit the ~ key then type show_cursorstat and it will give you the coordinates of the bridge and make the custom battle set at that coordinate.
I recommend removing the crossing in map_features before selecting the tile to edit. You can put this back later but the editor will place a ford on the map if there is a crossing there. This ford may cause problems if you then place a bridge over it as units will still try to use the ford. Alternatively select a tile that has a river but no crossing.
Using the battle editor, in the stratagy map part (big map) you'll find most rivers have the same or simular elevation levels (low points). I find a river there. Then roam up and down it, looking for the best looking location. Not all location river crossings default to a ford.... it actually runs about 1/2 and 1/2 in my experience, 1/2 defaulting to fords, and the other to stone bridges. Never seen any wooden bridges as a default on a location map.
Main thing I'd recommend prior to building a custom bridge battle is to check your delpoyment zones for that map grid in a 4v4 custom battle, you want to have the default deployment zones to look nice and be functional in all custom battles whatever thier size.
Check out my "lodi" or "ukmerge" scenarios in the downloads section. They're bridge battle scenarios to a degree. "lodi" started out as a custom_location map for multi-player with deployment zones that rocked on all levels, so I used that map grid to make my scenario.
"five" is another river crossing I made, simply 5 river crossings, 3 fords 2 bridges.
