    Default Recommended unit size?

I understand that TIC is balanced for M/M difficulty, but is there a recommended unit size? It makes a difference in the first Carthage battle, but even more for settlement population levels. I tend to use "large" units myself, but I would prefer "huge" if it didn't drain population so badly.

If your computer can handle it, always go for Huge

Huge can cause balance problems to some AI factions (barbarian factions) in RTR in general, but with TIC it isn't a problem; if your rig can handle it, go for huge.

But is there are no problem with size of battlefield map when you use huge units? Isn't it tend to bee too small for full stacks armys? I've never played on huge units so I'm curious if from that big units manoeuvring don't getting disadvantage?

I have heard several times people expressing concern that battlefields are too small for huge unit size, but in my experience this has never been a problem; there is always ample space for maneuvering, even with 4000 men per side, which is never the case anyway.

I've never had a problem with battlefields being too small, even with full stacks of "huge" units. Perhaps if I had multiple full stacks one both sides participating, but how often does that happen? I doubt my machine could handle that many soldiers on-screen anyway.

No, the trouble I run into on the huge setting is with city population draining away, or at best stagnating-- both for me and the AI. What makes TIC different from regular RTR in this regard? And is it possible to change the population subtracted from the city when a unit is built independently of the unit's size?

I don't know if the unit size has any affect on the 'pathfinding' of units withing a settlement.

Does a unit on a smaller scale have less of a problem than one on huge settings?

I tend to play with huge unit scale so I don't know the answer to that.....

When I first started playing RTW it was on "Large" settings, however, I soon gravitated to "Huge" and now wouldn't consider anything less. "Huge" lends an epic feel to battles that I find hard to resist.

If I need to turn the graphics way down to compensate, then so be it. Some mods used not to use sprites and would cause serious lag - they tended to fall by the wayside.

The only time I found "Huge" to cause space issues on the battlefield was playing as Egypt in Vanilla. They had a light cavalry unit that worked at 160 men apiece, which did tend to cramp things a little - but then, I probably shouldn't have had six regiments of them in my army!
