Default Metal Gear Solid - The Movie

That's right, a Metal Gear Solid movie is indeed in the works. It's to be directed by Kurt Wimmer (Sphere, Equilibrium, Ultraviolet) and so far no actors been named for Snake's role, while there are rumors of Christian Bale looking at the character.

Sadly, David Hayter (voices Snake and is a screen writer) has announced he will have nothing to do with the movie, sounds like bad news indeed.

Your thoughts? Personally I like the idea of a movie but I worry that, as usual, Hollywood will simply **** up another good series by making some cheap, piece of crap just to milk the cash cow.

I would have preferred David Hayter to be filling the role of Snake. All he would have to do is bulk up.

If this turns out like Hitman did, I'll want to weep.

Obviously only Kurt Russell could fulfil the role of Snake Plissken, or Solid Snake, or whatever that preposterous "character" is called.

Equilibrium and Ultraviolet had awesome action but both suffered from plot problems. I bet the same would happen with MGS. I'm more psyched with the upcoming Akira movie to be produced by and starring Leonardo Di Caprio, and directed by the same guy that did The silent city, an awesome Post apocalyptic short movie.

I've figured out Snake's real name. His name is David Plisken. Also, I think they should hire that guy with the headscarf from 300 to play the role of Snake. He looked the part quite well in even 300.

Isn't Snake Plisken the name of that guy from "Escape from NY" and "Escape from L.A.", well played by Curt Russel. If so, they should stick with Curt Russel.

Plissken is the last name of the guy from Escape from Etc movies.

He's making a great big logical leap to get from "My name is David" to "My name is David Plissken" and not telling us how he did it. Go figure.

Funnily enough! Sons of Liberty Solid Snake assumes the Identity of a Navy Seal; When questioned on his name by Rayden guess what fake name he uses?

Er uhh...yea...that was the writer's tribute to an inspiring character behind Snake.

I think Christian Bale would be a good Solid Snake.

Meh, hope they dont **** this one up. Metal Gear Solid on ps1 is still in my top 10 of best games I've ever played. And Kurt Wimmer's credentials arent exactly top notch.

    Sphere? Seriously?

I enjoyed Equilibrium. Never gave UltraViolet a chance.

Yes I liked Sphere..maybe only because it had Samuel Jackson(one of the coolest actors ever) and because even though it didn't quite make sense the idea of your worst fear coming true is solid because it obviously, connects to everyone since everyone has some fears. Equilibrium was pretty good and UltraViolet...you're right..it wasn't worth it.

    Tell me about it.

Maybe Kurt Russell can play Snake? I mean Metal Gear Solid's Snake Character is basically a copy of Snake Pliskin from Escape from Los Angeles anyway. Even certain plots have been stolen from the Film to add to the MGS series.

I like Kurt Russel but it's been a looong time since Escape from L.A., isn't he around 65 now?

Maybe if the base of the story is around MGS4 times so Snake will be old.

I don't think i'll be watching Snake if Hayter is out of the game. He must have discarded it for a reason.

Considering that Hayter was never anything more than a voice actor in MGS he's got no reason to be anything more than an actor in the movie. If he doesn't have a role there's no real reason for him to be involved.
