    Default Vassals, how to create?

I saw I had the option to create a vassal of an enemy when I negotiated with him. What does it mean to make a country your vassal? And is it hard, do you need to conquer a lot of cities or give them hugh amounts of gold for it?

Is this also aviable in the vanilla TW II?

A vassal is a nation that you "protect" as an ally in exchange for most of their income. It is extremely difficult to gain a vassal, as you must crush almost all of their empire, meaning that it would be easier just to destroy them instead of vassalizing them. And yes, this is available in vanilla.

Ok, thanks. Seems itīs quite an unnessecary tool then to use. Had some hopes it would work like in Europa Universalis III or something

it's only nice to boost your income, but by the time you get a vassal, you usually have enough income to support your empire.

I made Poland A Vassal, they had just 1 town left. I cheated and offered them over 700 million florins and they still rejected

Vassals are a real problem in total war games.

Once i was the scottish and to see what would happen if i didn't do anything i passed turn after turn. Then the english arrived with big armies and i desperately tried to stop them but couldn't. I was left with one province left and they asked for me to be their vassal.
Seeing as i had no army and was in no state to fight on i accepted. Then two turns later a huge army appears in my border and im like "wtf, i thought we were friends" so i mobilized an army to ambush them if they dared attack me. they did and i crushed them but they came with another army so i had to retreat to the safest place, home.

They besieged me and i, with the scottish attitude, refused to surrender and died trying That was the first time i lost

In other words Vassal to the AI means "ill protect you for one turn, then you're dead meat"

its bad not even mods can fix the vassal problem
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

Only way i've ever got a vassal is to cheat money give them like 1 million florins which you get straight back anyway, then they attack you, with an army of generals' bodyguards.

Getting vassals is real easy once you know how.

    1. You have to have a high rep. Reliable or Very reliable at least. Preferably Trustworthy.
    2. You need to pound them until they have only a couple cities or less and no army left.
    3. It helps if you have good relations with the Faction you want to vassalage. I know, a bit difficult when you been at war for a while but their are a few tricks such as gifting them prior to demanding vassal. Offering cash & a couple of settlements might also help.
    4. If all else fails wait until the faction you want to vassalage gets in another war with another faction. They willl send a diplomat pronto looking for a ceasfire from you. Counter offer vassal and BINGO!!!
    5. Good diplomats are not really essential but the deal must show "Balanced" or "Demanding" at most otherwise they will reject the offer.

As long as your rep remains high they should stay as your vassal but probably best not to box them in territory-wise

That makes sense, i think i'll try that, but is having a vassal really worth it?

Say i'm playing as England and scotland becomes my vassal, will the vassalage last long or will Scotland attack me and try to remove themselves from my vassalage.

Would i gain more in the long run by having them as a vassal or by wiping them out?
The Lord tells me he can get me out of this mess...but He's pretty sure your @#$%^&

You get all their money by keeping them as a vassal.
