France & Cannon Towers

I was looking through Frances buildings and I noticed they do not get cannon towers why is that?

They do. They just don't show up in teh building browser until you get the gunpowder event.

i think all factions can get cannon towers for future reference but like Mr.Elendig said you just have to wait for gunpowder to be discovered then they will show up in the building borwser and as a buildable building if balista towers are constructed

If the Eastern Roman Empire gets the Heiga Sohia as a chruch shouldnt France get Notre Dame de Paris as one as well?

wasnt Notre Dame built much later than this games time period covers. I myself am not sure but I thought Notre Dame was built in the 15th or 16th century vs the Hagia Sophia which was built in the 10th century.

Here is a timeline for the building of it. Maybe it can be put in the late game era? Just a thought. Or at the very least an event in the game.


1160 Maurice de Sully (named Bishop of Paris), orders the original cathedral to be demolished.
1163 Cornerstone laid for Notre Dame de Paris — construction begins.
1182 Apse and choir completed.
1196 Nave completed. Bishop de Sully dies.
1200 Work begins on western façade.
1225 Western façade completed.
1250 Western towers and north rose window completed.
1250 – 1345 Remaining elements completed.
