Default The year is 1486 - two questions

The year is 1486 and this is the picture of the world in my game as the holy roman empire.
as you can see, the new world is known and all rebel settlements were taken. all of main europa and most of the british island is in our hands. scandinavia has fallen to our hands as well.
factions destroyed : france, spain, denmark, england, hungary, poland, siciliy, milan, portugal.
allmost all of northwest africa is germanic as well :

my question is about the timurids. they made some conquests of my cities in the east and built a navy, some diplomats and merchants and it looks like they are not going to disappear. the same goes for the mongols.
it looks like they are now just like any other faction in the game. i thought they will stay nomad but they are not. anyone here dealt with them and saw them fall?

another question - the game ends at the year 1530? i could not continue further?

    thank you.

Next time you want to do this, type in toggle_fow before you take the picture. Then we can see what is really going on.

I didnt know that. what would it show?
anyway, can you see the map? i think that if you see the map you can get the idea.

Go to your campaign. Hit the ~ key. Type in

    toggle_fow

It removes all greyness and blackness and shows the map in its vibrant, colourful entirety. Take picture. Type the command in again to return it to normal and then come back with the new picture.

I only say this because maps such as yours are often far from accurate of what is really going on, because much of that is probably aged map information. You talked about the mongols and timurids, but we can't see anything about them.

Yep, the game finishes at 1530 but you have an option of continuing as for the Timurids and Mongols, they usually consolidate their gains and become like normal factions but I have seen them go AWOL and keep conquering like mad.

Most of the time the Mongols and Timurids continue conquering like mad in my games, that is if they don't come as pacifists and spend 50 years sight seeing. It is either one extreme or the other for me. Usually they only settle down when they come from Russia.

I was playing as Russia and for 50 turns they did nothing and then in 25 turns they had conquered all my land which stretched from sarkel to novgorod except for Helsinki. It was wonderful blitzkrieg I have to say.

Heh. By rule, when the Mongols do nothing for a while, that is when you should be the nervous. Either they will end up never doing anything, or those mysterious turns just hanging out will suddenly burst into a blitzkrieg that would make a human player proud. Lol.

The Mongols have carved a nice little Empire out there. You will just have to go at them like you were going after a beefed up Turkey.

The Timurids though. Since your Empire is big enough I suggest you get about three full stacks of spear/archer/heavy cavalry/cannons and nip them in the bud. Wipe out their family tree and get those settlements. They might send another wave though, I don't know about the Timurids.

Any combination of those troops will work out for you as long as you stay away from heavy and light infantry. A bit useless against the foreign invaders.

Mongols are honestly nothing special once they've settled down, just a standard eastern archer/cav spamfest to slog through, if you've ever killed off a well funded Russia it's essentially the same thing except they tend to like siege weaponry more therefore have slower armies. Timurids only have one wave so at this point you can wipe them out without them ever returning. Use artillery to spook their elephants, without elephants they're nothing special unless they're attacking walls with their giant fricking cannons.

thanks all for the kind answers. i am pretty sure my campaign is going to end much later than the year 1530.

I was about to ask about those elephants. i was wondering if there is a way to make them run amok. when they did that, it was the thing that won me a battle against them. so you say cannons does the job? all i need to do is fire on them with my basilik or cannon and thats it? they will star running and destroying their own army?

You will need to keep firing at them untill they run amok, one volley won't do it. But yeah, artillery is very effective against them. Nobody likes to be shot at by a bloody big gun.

    Thank you.
the battle against the russian army has just ended - it was a crushing victory. more than 1000 soldiers of the enemy killed and only 73 of the holy roman empire soldiers killed.
about cannons and other artillery units - in a defense battle, would you recommend to take them out of the walls, fire at the enemy units and run back in? i tried it once and it was not that effective.

I got rid of the Timurids through assassinating them. Only fought one battle against them and won. I'd suggest getting assassins and 3 armies. Take their 3 settlements and try to take out as much family as you can.

    What is a siege engine???

About timurids - i never thought of using assassins against them. i alwayes thought it is not an honorable way to fight muslim poeple...
those three settlements were taken from me, in huge battles. do you know a good military way to take them back?

That will be a problem - they have huge armies. i never seen such size of armies. many of my elite armies are still at spain after the conquest of the area. i think it is time to build more carracks and navigate those armies to the east. but still, those timurids have huge numbers over there.

archers, the more elephants they have, the more archers you will bring

besides that, lots of cavalry, and some infantry that ... well sacrifices itself to enemy horse archers and cavalry while your ... archers and cavalry take care of them...

Elephants that are scared dont distinguish between friend and foe while trampling over them btw.

i usually bring some sacrifice troops (high morale, high def to stand at least a while) with me, who take the main blunt of the timurid (or mongols) with little to no chance of survival, while other troops do the killing. Even a full stack of peasants, attacking as a reinforcement stack can do wonders to turn the tide in battle
