    Default Changing Bodyguard

Is there any way to change which unit a faction uses for general's bodyguard? I want Scotland to use an infantry unit instead of the normal cavalry do you change the EDU or is it in another file?

You'll need to change the EDU to do it.

Simply move an existing unit of the Scots , give it the general_unit attribute and move it so it is located above the "NE Bodyguard" unit. The game will now pick the first unit that has the general_unit attribute for your faction, which should be the unit you moved. I highly suggest creating a duplicate of the unit by copying it's entry in the EDU file and pasting a copy above the "NE Bodyguard" unit. Change it's type only. Example:
    change:
    type Highland Nobles
    into this:
    type Highland Nobles Bodyguard
for your new general unit you pasted above the "NE Bodyguard". You can know change it's stats so they won't die as easily. As a side effect you won't get a general for every unit of highland nobles you recruit.

Is there a reason why when I try this it crashes at start up then? I'm able to just make it a general_unit, and it will work fine. Although, when I try to make a duplicate of the unit so they wont recruit a general it crashes on start up. I have tried changing only the type in the EDU and that didn't work, and it wont start up unless I just completely delete that second unit.

if you make a duplicate and only change the name of the type it won't crash. You are doing something else. Read the last line of the logs.

Well I have figured out what was wrong, but for some reason this wont work with scotland for me... I'm using the stainless steel mod and when I try to make another unit the general and put it above the "NE bodygaurd" in the EDU it still uses the NE bodygaurd when I start a new game.
