Yes. I know MTW 2 and kingdoms has been out for a while. And yes I have been interested in buying it. But from what I have seen that MTW 2 is not worth buying and just continue playing RTW in which I do. I havn't stopped playing RTW since the day it came out. Well more over I don't play the vanilla I play MODS.

So the question is. Is it worth buying MTW 2 and Kingdoms. How are the mods for MTW 2? I'm sure they are of high quality as much of everything else in this forum.

Matter of fact I did buy the game when it came out but something happened and I was unable to play the game. Something with the disc and an error in there which prevented me from patching it to 1.2. So I just shelved it and never went back to it. But now I want to give it another try. Maybe this time I won't get a bad disc.

    Thanks

Honestly, I cannot get back to ROME: TOTAL WAR. ROME was my first game, my first experience of the Total War franchise, and I loved it.
However, now with Medieval 2: Total War, I find Medieval 2 runs better on my computer, while Rome doesn't, I find that, amidst all the bugs there are some prime additions, and the mods for it are fantastic.
The mods to look out for are Broken Crescent, a Middle-Eastern, From Byzantia-India, and Stainless Steel, a mod on the given campaign maps, but very very much so advanced and re-made to almost a new game.

    Just my two cents.
I can't make a sense out of the above. God I need a sleep.

The one i'm going to buy is bundle together. So i'm getting MTW 2 and kingdoms in the the same box. Will mods work on this?

If you are enjoying RTW and its mods then I would suggest not getting M2TW.
Although the mods do make it more enjoyable, they have not had as much time to 'mature' as the RTW mods have. I think you ought to wait a year or so before getting M2TW/Kingdoms as by then it'll be a) cheaper and b) the mods will be better then.

Right. Although I have both MTWII plus Kingdoms and Rome. I find myself playing RTW more than MTWII, mainly because of EB, but I do have fun with the mods that are available with MTWII at the moment. If you're still having tons of fun with RTW, then yeah you can just wait till the price drops, but I think there are a few mods that are excellent already.

Get MTW2. It is a great game by itself.

    Get the expansion.

    Get retrofit mod.

Get the grand unit addon expansion (There is a small version that is less than a mb and tells you how to move the files yourself instead of downloading the 250mb version)

Bam, now the grand campaign actually has unit depth because it adds a lot of units in the expansion camps. Byz get greek flame throwers (Salivate) and arquebus, Egypt has a roster worth Salah-Al din, and the Holy Roman Empire get a chance to recreate the Teutons with the scary Ritters.

IMO what I just listed should of been part of the official exp, but as it is it is rather easy to impliment yourself without investing in some of the bigger mods.

With that you get a very satisfying MTW 2 experience without investing in a huge mod download. If you -did- want a big mod, there are many great mods that /heavily/ enhance the original game, though I have to warn you. There aren't many big mods out that /radically/ change the game. There are 2 or three mods that aim to bring Rome in one form or another to the mtw2 engine, but none of them have a release yet.

EB2 is going to be unreal though. I'm personally waiting on something that did what Chivalry did for R:TW. Something to get me hungry for Empire:TW.

Alright then. Thank you. Now I just have to get the games. Hopefully I don't get a bad disc and be able to patch them.
