    Default A Reputation Question

The article on Reputation at twcenterwiki says this:

    - Offering military assistance. This will raise your global reputation by 0.1 points. Note that this is not the same as offering to attack a faction through diplomacy (which reads as "military assistance against..." in-game) but means that you actually take part in a battle with an ally or a neutral faction (to which you have given military assistance).
So I was wondering, does this mean you have to offer an Attack Faction through diplomacy to get the Reputation bonus, or can you just attack with any random allied army? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

No! This means you have to be alongside them on the campaign map when they or you attack a common enemy and both fight on the battle map.

...err wiki mmmm.... Neutral faction! Military assistance. Didn't know this.

I heard that Military assistance may be bugged. Instead of you getting the rep bonus the faction your assisting ends up getting it!

You can offer an "attack faction" when doing diplomacy with a neutral faction. I typically give these if that faction is at war with one of my enemies as well, just to increase our relationship.

Oh ok, so simply attacking with an ally doesn't get you a reputation bonus, and offering assistance through diplomacy then attacking is bugged?

Well thanks to both of you for the advice, guess I'll have to use the other ways to gain rep.

Pfft, rep is overrated Just kill all of your enemies...or stare them down (like so: and intimidate them to bending to your will)

Heh, perhaps, but I get tired of being "Despicable" sometimes, and I thought this could be an easy way to get away with being a jerk.

Just occupy and release prisoners. It's the only way to get a good reputation.
Avoid doing nasty things like exterminating and backstabbing allies or all your hard earned work goes down the drain.

personally, when it comes to diplomacy, just attck. If you are strong enough (which you should be because the AI are crap) just demolish them without a thought.

    Hey guys,

It seems im not the only one with the crappy reputation problem. I'm not sure how it happened but i seem to have earned the rep [despicable] but why and how i ask myself, i have never declared war on any neutral or allied factions. Quite frankly i have been well behaved.

But as some of the above posters have mentioned that waging war isen't the only thing that governs reputation. The way reputation is handled really needs to be adressed.

For instance sometimes it is a neccessity to exterminate a settlement and executing Pow's that should rightfully be executed for acts of betrayal etc , it's time they improve the game dynamics so the gameplay reflects atleast a shread of realism.

Suffice to say, the papal stats didnt last long when this happened, my first move was into Italy and Spain to kill there faction off

I just finished an LTC campaign as the Scots and got up to and stayed very reliable for a couple hundred years. I think I must have needed more alliances to get to trustworthy. However, after attacking the English who were excommunicated after they (my ally) attacked me, I took 2 cities which I had previously traded to them. I am now deceitful. But, I don't mind because in just a very few short days CA will release the final perfect patch and then the world will be perfect.
