    Default PRO DEO ET REGE Faction Research Thread: Serbia

    Serbia (Duklja/Raška) : Research Thread

    This thread is dedicated to discussion of the medieval Serbian state. Historically, the state founded by Stefan Nemanja did not exist at the start-date of PDER (ca. 1080 AD). However, the Kingdom of Duklja did exist at the start-date.

    In the interest of having a playable Serbian faction from the outset without having to resort to an emerging faction, it is planned for the Kingdom of Duklja to "evolve" into
    Raška through a reform-like event. This reform will take advantage of Kingdom's ability to have a faction change religion. So the predominantly Catholic Kingdom of Duklja will change into Orthodox state of Raška.

    I have two ways in mind for this to take place:

    1] If you have a ruler in place by
    A] a certain date;
    B] with Orthodox trait;
    C] pro-
    Raška trait; and
    D] control province of Ras, then you are given the option to "become"
    Raška.

    2] Otherwise, you just wait for a certain date (whichever comes sooner).

    This is obviously a historical compromise, but it is aimed at providing increased conflict amongst factions in the Balkans akin to the Anatolian theatre of conflict in PDER 1.0.

    Cheers...

    There is a trigger to change a factions name and flag aswell as religion. Don't ask me how, as I messed up the only time I tried it. But it is there.

    Really? I thought you couldn't actually change the names of a faction. And the changing COA requires a faction slot. So not likely I'll waste a faction slot on that...nice as it'd be...

    DBM Lists for Early Serbia & Later Serbia:

    Early Serbia

    Later Serbia

    Impressions I gather:
    • Serbs wielded bow and lance from horseback, but from the earliest period were known more famously for a powerful charge. Abandoned the bow in the 14th century
    • Steady access to ambushing archers and skirmishers.
    • I remember reading elsewhere that Croatians were influenced more by the West than the Serbs, who were more Byzantine inspired.

    I see these awesome illustrations everywhere, and I have been looking for years for a book with all the diagrams and plate pictures of medieval knights and such. Can someone tell me what book/series these are from? Sorry for the off topic...

    Been along time since I checked the triggers, went back and I think you're absolutely right. You can change the banners but not the name. You do need a faction slot to do it yeah, if none to waste then that's that.

    Uh, so yeah...back to work for me, I guess...just some random base models for my Serb faction. These are lower level types. Likely to be used as Javelinmen & Archers.

    Still works in progress...but at least it's work...and at least there's progress, eh?

    I've done up some early Serb Nobles and some High-Era Nobles, too. Need to refine them. As well as Voynuk Spearmen and Bowmen.

    Regards!

    nice indeed. unfortunately it is a problem to find a good pictures of medieval Serbian warriors. so every little image counts. we had a rough time when making a serbian roster for Tsardoms mod.

    This man's work (Socal_infidel)makes us all most huppy!
    TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
    Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

    IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
    Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

    I did take a summer hiatus away from modding...so I don't work that fast.

    Will remove the spikes. Wasn't sure whether to leave them or not. Thanks!
