trait/rank question
all my faction members have ranks such as tribune etc, are these traits just for flavour or should i be takin notice of who is and isnt a tribune for example?
the same question goes for character who can be on the senate, again is this just for flavour or should i be doin somethin special with these guys?
i dont really take much notice of the above but i feel im maybe missin on some features of this superb mod.

Re: trait/rank question
They do stuff, some of them even after the term of office ends. It's also a sign of whether they'll get higher offices - particularly if they get Tribune of the Plebs or one of the Aediles.

yeah but what stuff do they when they're in office? there seems like a lot of depth in this mod which i like the sound of but im a bit lost as to what i should be doin with all these characters who have ranks.
basically what im tryin to ask in long winded way is do all these rank traits add a political side to the game or am i just supposed to role play them?

Well from the role-play perspective the Romans are the hardest EB faction for proper role-playing. I think (maybe I am wrong) that it is almost impossible to role play romans with all their politicall and military offices and ranks.
I would advise you to play it as you see fit.

Re: trait/rank question
Technically only consuls, and at a push praetors should be leading armies around. They can often have a family member who either is, or was a military tribune as an aide who leads the cavalry. In a province where a praetor is the governor, their "second" was usually a quaestor.
You can work to ensure election to offices of family members you choose to nurture; I recently did that with a plebian who is currently a consul.

I kept him moving around Italy, and he led a lot of rebellion-quashing expeditions. He just took Patavium and recently Mediolanium for me as consul, in about the right year for both too (between 225- and 222BC).
But basically early on you won't have any consuls, so you just make do until you do. Sometimes really old men get the consulship too, but they're often no good as generals by that time.

Re: trait/rank question
so its basically just a kinda self imposed house rule then? a consul can control a full stack and a tribune can control a half stack?
is this how other play the mod or am i missin somethin?
traits like, patricivs, nobile, ex aedile, blooded, ex tribunis milita! it gives descriptions but it doesnt explain how they affect the game. are they just to add flavour or do they have an effect on gameplay?

Re: trait/rank question
Hover over them, and it tells you what the game impact (if any) is. Offices they presently hold do something, only the higher offices they once held still do anything. So for example in the four years your family member is a Military Tribune, their body guard has +1 to their experience. But after that the bonus goes.
