I want my big cities to hold more than my little ones...

Hi all, what do you think of the idea that a huge city that takes 2 minutes of game time just to walk across should be able to hold more troops than a motte n bailey? I had Jerusalem to huge and Mongols showed up at all 4 walls, my only choice was to pick 2 and have a small group at each and head for the center. Of course I died LOL but my thought was why shouldn't a huge city allow a huge garrison. Thoughts?

My laptop sucks so I wouldn't be able to play those battles, I already have tremendous lag when attacking anything bigger then a large town or castle.
