Default Modding generals and captains for the battle map

I'm not sure if I have ever gotten a clear answer to this:

does anyone know if it is possible to somehow mod the game to change the models of the general and captains with either an event or some other trigger. I wanted to use the early general model for most of the game and introduce the plated late general later on.

I've been looking for something like that, but I've come to the conclusion that it's not possible.

Your only option would be the change_battle_model command from kingdoms, but that can only be used for faction heirs and leaders.

Hmmm...that might be good enough for now. I wonder why it can only be used for them...
