Qahira captured - endless!

This is a strange one, been playing as Ghazni, I'm patched up to the latest and on XP it gets to year 1221 and just as I'm starting a troop deployment on the battle screen I get the "Qahira captured" icon which is'nt the kind of thing that ever appears on the battle screen for starters. Anyway I click it and can continue with the battle but notice a whole string of the same message hanging down the left hand side of the screen...hmmmm.
OK, after battle I'm on the campaign map screen and sure enough there it is but this time I cant get rid of it, every time I click it another one pops straight in from the stack on the left.

Basically I cant move on, if I click on anything else like a settlement it stays up for about one second before being replaced with Qahira captured again, eventually with some quick hand/mouse work I managed to move to next turn but it showed up again, another time I tried and hitting escape at the same time, got to the next turn and a clean page but alas when I went to my first battle up it pops again during the troop deployment period, so I'm stuck with it basically.
I'm going to start another campaign with another faction and see what happens in 1221, the only alternative here might be to secure Qahira myself lol.
