I'd fight the war on two fronts the Carthage and Numidia repulsing the Roman invasion With Egypt,Parthia and Seleucid crushing the Eastern armies and then two pronging the rest of the world

With this the Romans can destroy Gaul with the Germans and the Carthaginians could wipe out the Iberians and Britons and then work together with Macedon to sweep out Thrace, Dacia and Scythia, then while Egypt is holding off everyone we come in from the back and Asia minor and wipe out any eastern foe with conbined military strongpoints.

Gauls (for their Forresters and for their excellent early game postion and units)

Julii (Legionary Cohort, their early game position is better than the Brutii and I needed only 2 of the 3 Roman factions)

Scipii (Legionary Cohort, their temple sytem and ports makes their military units superior to the other two Roman factions)

Greece (early game money, lots of it, and armored hoplites)

Carthage (Armored Elephants).

I also wanted a faction like Partia, with cataphracts and horse archers, but felt that the geographic separation would allow it to be wiped out before it could get help from the other four factions.

The Gauls, freed from their otherwise main threat of the Julii, would focus on Brittania and Germania.

The Julii (freed from the Gaul threat) and the Scipii (freed from the Carthage threat) would gang up on the Brutii and then the SPQR. Once freed of the Brutii, the Julii would help the Gauls against Germania, and the Scipii would help Carthage against Numidia.

Greece would help against the Brutii. Then, with flanks protected, work up the Aegian and over towards Egypt.

Carthage (freed from the Scipii threat) would work westward, sewing up the north African coast and then working up the Iberian penninsula.

Once the western half of the map is sown up, from the British Isles to the Aegean penninsula, it is over.

Carthage wouldn't have any enemies on their backs, leaving them free to fight Scipii, and they provide the second best phalanx, great cavalry plus eles, Spain supplies money and some of the best nonphalanx inf, Numidia doesn't have any body to fight except Egypt, so they hinder them, and they have camels to help with desert warfare, Gaul blocks the Julii and provide the best archers in the game, Greek cities block the Brutii advance and provide money plus they have the best phalanx in the game, all in all, a really complex and balanced powerful military, and Iberia plus Greece=a lot of money, and a bonus, they block the Romans from all sides

SPQR - Since the Roman superfaction is gone they start with a big enough army to take Italy(tested and proven).
Britons - It's them or Germania they takes Europe without the Romans and since the Britons can't be destroyed by the AI I'll go for them. Besides they normally dominate Germania anyways.
Greeks - Them + Macedonia = Greece Economic powerhouse.

Greece-Spartan Hoplites, unbelievable revenue, good to trade with.

Macedonia-Them and Greece are a powerhouse together, Macedonia could work upwards while the Greeks add some light support and hold the Asian front.

Julii-Best Infantry in the game since they're Roman. AI always does well with them.

Brutii-Secures the western and coastal fronts of Macedonia and the Balkans. With the Julii they're able to secure all of the Italian peninsula. Brutii could take off where the Scipii left off, heading westward. Julii could head north, as usual, after helping to take the Italian Peninsula.

Egypt-It's Egypt, what can I say? They always dominate Asia. With the Greeks allied the Seleucids are done for, then they both sweep northward. Egypt could also provide support in Africa.

My best combo in vanilla RTW would be:

Romans: cant really be beaten in auto resolve (thats what the AI does) and gets insanely strong later on, very dominant. If I had to pick one it would be the Scipii (because they fit best with the other factions I'd use

Egypt: chariots are basically the most op auto resolve unit, egypt always dominates the whole east

Brits: same thing really, dominates all of gaul/germania

These three are basically all you need actually. Other factions you might add are maybe Macedonia and Iberians or something

Three Roman Factions ( Bruti, Sciipi and Julii) because they are dominant and can only be threatened by Carthage.

Thats why I pick Carthage as my fourth factions so the romans can focus on eaiser enemys and so Carthage can fight Numidia and Spain.

Gaul would work as a shield versus the barbarian world and would also help Carthage to conquer Spain.

Egypt always steamrolls everyone anyway, brits steamroll the north. Romans can clean up whats left lol
