I love jimi hendrix. I play his music all the time. BUT ANGUS YOUNG IS what got me into guitar. And I don't see jimi having break downs on the floor while spinning and still doing a solo. But I see Angus doing that.

well thank you. I'm glad you found it useful.
For the republican legions you want information on how to support them on long campaigns? What else you like to see?
Oh yes and welcome to the forums

I would take 10 at a time. In whatever country i'm invading. Sometimes 11 but the problem at this point is that RS doesn;t give you some form of auxilia troops. 99% of the time whenever I finish a war and i'm shipping those 10 legions home I recuit as much of any troop I can. Usually Mercs and town watch. They usually work. So basically what I'm trying to say is that I can't develop a proper system to use with these legions. Only with the later ones.
With The greek areas and Macedon the best troops to supprt your republican legions is the Hoplites.

I don't know if it askes before but i've read something about ceasarian legions. I've never been able to recruit them in a campaign of mine. I'm sure you can tell me how i can recruit them![]()
These are the named legions you can recruit in italy before the reforms. I think all you need is the highest form of barracks. They have slightly different armour from the postreform legions. You can still recruit them after the reforms. For example, the I Germanica is a ceasarian legion
Well I do leave a legion or 2 in the newly conquered regions. Of course I send them back home for retraining but then I send them back to the new area. And then I wait like 10 years and then I start recuiting new legions from the newly conquered area.

Thx man. I usually only wait about five or six years and then recruit the new legions from conquered places which I use on the new campiagns specially if they are from the place that I am trying to conquer that way i feel like they fight better because they are in their home soil.
Yea in my house rules I have the same thinking. So whenever I raise a new legion, whatever city they are from is where they are retrained and disbanded. For me it creates another level of depth to the game and Historically as well. You get to know your legions and you know where they are from. Thank god for Microsoft Excel without that none of it would be possible

Wow, you guys really play hardcore, but hey, that's the way it's meant to be played right?
Anyways, I've just gone from playing Medieval alot to playing Rome a lot, and I have downloaded this great mod and the game is so much better now, more and better units, legions etc. I do have a few questions, but first, I want to describe my great roman empire, ha ha.
I started with throwing the Epeirots out from Italy which was harder than I anticipated, playing on hard and with 0 turn recruitment made it difficult, but after a few years of fighting they were finally gone, leaving me expanding further intoItaly uncontested, which I did, I took the cities of Patavium and Medialonium. After putting up border forts and border defense I now began to build up my economy and build new armies to conquer Sicily which now was controlled completely by the Carthaginians. AFter a few turns I felt that 200 000 florins was enough to build up troops I builded a few ships to transport my legions, I sent 3 legions which later would reinforced. But on the way there I lost two fleets, so two of my legions were lost, and it was the legions with experience, some were with silver but most of them had 3 bronzes.
So the plans to attack Sicily were postponed a few years, I now had to build more armies and more fleets to transport them. Said and done, after a few years of fighting Sicily was mine. It was now Carthage made an alliance with the Gauls so I had to fight on two fronts now. And it's there Iam right now, I have captured Carthage and a few more of their cities and I've just began fighting against Gaul.
But most importantly, I've just gained the Marius reform, so now I can begin building named legions which seems really cool.
ABout those questions now, I've forgot most of them by now but I still remembers a few, well. Is it a part of your "roleplaying" that when you lose a general or the eagle in a legion, is it turned inactive then, or is the game designed that way? And your legions, you just build them like ordinary trooops? Or is there like some kind of button you press and and you make a legion?
Well very interesting Campaign so far.
AND IN ROMA SURRETUM we don't use Florins.![]()
Now for your questions.
When I lose a legion's General or the legion loses the eagle. YES I make it inactive until I can get the eagle back. And if I lose the general, it don't move till a new one is appointed.
And Yes you build the legions normally like a regular troops. There is no button you press to recuit a legion. You just put them together.
But remember this is what some players do. Others continue to use the legion even after the geeneral died and the eagle was lost so its all about the players Preferences.
