ATTENTION COMMUNITY: AVG known problem with installers.
Hey guys,
This is as confirmed as i can get. there IS a problem. straight and smooth.
I've done some reserch in the last weeks with Zeph,
involving Mcafee israel, AVG R&D center.
there are some known, rare issues of people downloading (like me) the following:
Darthmod 1.4
Clouds over euorpe
Edited:
Add PortuCale and Stainless Steel as well.
(useless AV...)
In addition to this:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...71#post2750571
AVG recognizes these files as trojans, therefore blocking the file-header from running. what you get is a corupted useless file, eventually, and more frustrations.
for some reason, AVG R&D said that there is probably something wrong with the installer package itself, as the AVG tends to recognize the file-pattern as a virus.
Their official response (which they harshly demended be via phone) was:
(in translation to english):
"There maybe a small chance that only our advanced AV is able to detect a pattern similar to some trojans, therefore treat this as a potent trojan horse to take no risk. to solve these issues we will need to check the installer applications througjly and see if we can detect that pattern and maybe include a fix in the future".
Mcafee response:
"if there IS a virus pattern, our AV should have discouvered it. we ran some test on these .exe files and did not detect any pattern, exact or similar to a potential threat".
2 weeks i'm hanging around the forum, reserching my way to a personal super-hybrid addition to MTW2. 2 weeks i'm searching for an alternative.
:hmmm:
My advice?
remove AVG, install \ buy a new one, just so you can have the right to complain as a paying customer.
Thank zeph for helping us out trying to figure the source of the problem.
My apologies guys, but i guess till we uninstall it, we cant enjoy these mods.
"there are no free stuff in life". they just dont work properly when you need (or maybe DONT need) them the most
I rather play MTW2 with your mods guys with a pc-full o'trojans, than working on a PC with no mods at all.

Re: ATTENTION COMMUNITY: AVG known problem with installers.
Just to set things straight:
I've uninstalled my AVG and the mod works.
I have used some online scans and other, no problem with them.
AS i said,
it's not to ALL of the AVG users, but some of them may experience these problems.
