    Default Recruitable General Quality

The quality (management, command stars, influence, traits, ancillaries) of the recruitable generals, governors, proconsuls etc is random or has something to do with the city in which they are recruited?
I mean, is it better to recruit them in cities with advanced schools, big temples or good quality governor?

Towns with bigger and better schools and whatnot often field better and more "well educated" generals than town with no schools or low level ones, so try and recruit from the towns and cities with them.

The buildings in a settlement have nothing to do with which traits a general, governor, or family member starts with. The buildings do contribute to which traits/ancillaries will be earned if the character stays in the settlement.

I always create a finishing school city. Which builds little governors for me. Capua, the BC version of oxbridge. LOL

lol! That's a really good idea. I ended up having a bunch of amazing generals in the late game in Narbo Martius (sp?). Of course, in typical fashion, I didn't notice until the city was surrounded by generals since there were too many units.

Apart from schools, academies etc, which other building contribute to the traits earned?

Temples. Quite often they will gain 'Priest of ...' retinues.
