Making normal maps with GIMP ?
Any tutorials on this? I've searched but I can't find anyway. I have installed the correct plugins I'm having difficulty working out which options to select i.e : filter, minimum Z, Alpha Channel, conversion, DU/DV Map.
Do I need to mess with the 3D preview ?
Is is just a case of trial and error ?
I'd really appreciate a few pointers.
Thanks in advance.
ps. I'm not worried about gloss effects at the moment. I just don't want the old normal map overlaying the new textures I've made.

Re: Making normal maps with GIMP ?
Hi Yelu
There was a normal map tutorial in the tutorial stickies section. I will try and post a link for you if I can find it.
Just a question as I have had problems finding a plugin for normal mapping with Gimp. What version of Gimp are you using? And what / where did you get the plugin?
Cheers

Re: Making normal maps with GIMP ?
Thanks - but this is for photoshop and GIMP differs in several ways. I've tried to follow this guide and apply it to GIMP but it ain't working. I've sort of solved the problem by using DXTbmp and export the texture to GIMP and deleting the gloss. It's not ideal but its good enough for now !
