    Default Carthaginian General

Hi, I have seen the carthaginian general and I think that the helmet with feathers and it seems incorrect, more like roman or macedonian that carthaginan.

My question is you're sure that the carthaginians used that helmet? you have some image that reflect it? or it is modern speculation?

I ask it because I'am making a figure of a carthaginian general, and I have see it wiered in the game.

Ah, and a little suggestion, I think that the carthaginian elephant's drivers instead that a armoured officer will be numidian or lybian unarmoured driver.

I don't know very much about that, but i remember having read (in a book which is quite old and so maybe outdated now) that only very little known about how carthaginian soldiers looked like, so there is probably much speculation involved.

Hm, i'm not helping anyone with that, am i?

Most depictions suggest that you are correct and the mahouts were unarmoured, however this cannot be modded. IIRC the game is hard-coded to use the same skin for the mahout and the archers.

I'am speaking of the elephant without archers, I don't know if the game uses the same mahouts.

I've tried to search by internet for images or descriptions of carthaginian generals, and I can only find generals with helmet and crest, not with feathers. I assume is speculation.

Assume it is speculation all you want. Just because evidence isn't submitted to your request before 24 hours is up doesn't mean that there isn't any.

Excuse me, but I'am not critizing, I only supposing. If I'am incorrect, please let me know.

Each general would likely have his own, individualized equipment. Since the popularity of Greek equipment was so rampant we went with what would have been the most likely helmet type and adornments - in this case a very stylish Attic helm.

    Ok, thank you very much.

If you check out some images you can see that the helmet that we are using for the Carthaginian general is based on the Attic Helmet that is represented in the bust of Hannibal.

As they said, Hellenistic equipment was very popular around the Mediterranean. We used some artistic license with the feathers and crest so that he can look like an officer.

About the mahout, I think is a model issue, but being such an easy and important target it is obvious that the state should give you some type of protection unless they want the elephants to go crazy.
