In order to widen my open-mindedness I plan to get this book which seems kind of interesting when I noticed it at nearby bookstore. But I would like some opinions from those who have read it first whether or not its worth buying?

"When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion." -- Robert Pirsig
"Feminists are silent when the bills arrive." -- Aetius
"Women have made a pact with the devil — in return for the promise of exquisite beauty, their window to this world of lavish male attention is woefully brief." -- Some Guy
Do you plan to buy it regardless of the heavy reviews you're bound to get?
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

I haven't had a chance to read it myself yet, but according to the major review on amazon(well...the only one easily visible at the time), it's sort of the fundamental atheistic view.
If this is about expanding your open-mindedness it can't hurt to have a taste of that view regardless of the kind of rants you will probably hear about it here, possibly from both sides. You may not even agree with it when you're done. The book seems to be more a viewpoint than an analysis, and that should be kept in mind.

i didn't like 'the god delusion' because it moved away from biology to religion. however Hitchens is not Dawkins and i think he is one of the best speakers i have ever seen, i might get it myself.

The God Delusion was a specific logical exploration of the reasons that Theists give for the existence of their god. There's not really a way to keep that in biology.

i know that but i think it went away from what Dawkins was so good at and it really suffered for it.
