Well, the EB website is a great place to start:
http://www.europabarbarorum.com/fact...ani_units.html
That looks absolutely impressive. I'd like to ask though, since looking at the picture reminded me of it. In another mod that I play, the late empire comitatense have a crescent pattern on their shield, somewhat similar to the BC-era Dacians here. So since the EB people can probably write history books, did Dacian shield inspire the design/pattern of shields in later Roman Empire?
lol its funny how ppl hate that armor, its OBVIOUSLY better than chain. Its like when little kids argue in school "Hey there little kid, nice armor...can i have some too??? o yea i cant have it???? WELL I DONT WANT IT ANYWAY!!!! its smelly and not as good as mine!"
Why do I have a feeling this has to do with someone else who wants legionaries in the lorica segmentata?
Segmentata wasn't "obviously better than chain", it was expensive to make and not as solid as simple mail. There's a reason they went back to the lorica hamata.
romans were broke and had civil war thats why they went back to the ring armor. Hair braiders and rich old ladies would make the hamata part time weaving those rings together. Seriously though you can just butt them all closed, anyone could make that stuff without much skill. Must be tough to make the segmented armor though, it had to be a soft metal im guessing it was a custom fit, i could just kill you and wear your chain, but the plates might be too tight or loose for me to fit in.
Hair braiders and rich old ladies? There was probably a full-blown industry in northern Italy making the stuff later on, it wasn't some little cottage affair. Not to equip thousands of men.
Hey,
maybe you should visit this site:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=113
It is the Invasio Barbarborum site for the late roman period.
i would rather get mine from a hair braider, stupid mass production...reminds me of "the scream"
