effects of going bankrupt
playing hotseat lately, and notice everytime, the computer keeps only 1 troop per city and alot of the time its not even militia??? and they're always negative gold.
So I'm curious what's the effects of going bankrupt? for player and computer?

your troops (especially mercenaries) and cities may revolt and you can't construct buildings and train troops

If the Ai is skint, it's normally impossible for them to come out of it - however some mods provide money boost scripts which 'do-as-they-say-on-the-tin' and boost the ai's money whenever they get too low.

Yeah going bankrupt is bad, so you should try and sack a city with lots of money fast before you sink even further into debt.

just make free upkeep militia and invest in your economy. then it will never happen that you go bankrupt.
