Maybe put your unit detail on medium? That what I do and there's no lag on Huge settings. The unit detail is still really good on medium, too.

I play large with med graphics and my specs aren't as good as yours but I don't experience any lag, thats weird.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

    I have 2.4GHz
    768 RAM
Can easily play huge on lowest resolution and medium detail. Only with bridge battle it starts going slower.
    Still looks good.

Turn Aliasing off, grass off, shadows glints etc. I cant play on less than high unit detail etc, so i sacrifice the other crap. But even then i play everything maxed out, but with large. I prefer nice units than big units.

I got the 8600 nvidia, but befrore I had a closer one to ye,and I played on normal scale on medium graphics, or large with low, not very low. low anti anilising, and no grass.

but now I can play on huge, med graphics, lowest resolution, no lag anywhere, maybe sometime a lag spike for 2 sec but thats like maybe once a day.

I need to play this game on huge. I have a 2.54 GHz 1.25 gb of ram and a nvidia 7300 GT.

And I have no lag. I start to lag when theres like 12000 troops on the field.

Huge unit settings and everything set to the max using a Nvidia 8800GTX with 768Mb ram - also played at 1920x1200 resolution.

If you have a graphic card that cannot handle the settings you have to compromise in some way. It depends if you want epic battles (huge unit size) or beautiful scenery (lower unit scale but better graphics).

Grass is a known killer in RTW based games.

Personally, I prefer epic battles (limited men on battlefield though) over graphics but if the graphics mean I just get blobs I will play smaller unit scale and increase the graphics.

I play on huge setting with anything else on low. At normal speed RS plays fine but at double or triple starts lagging. As many said, playing on huge is really beautiful.
    Btw, I have a Athlon 64x2 3.8 Ghz, 7600GT 256mb and 4gb of RAM

PS: How much is the cost of a 8800GT/Ultra in the States? (I'm from Argentina)

I play in large settings, not huge. My card is a x1650 and it handles it well. Im using low anti-aliasing, medium grass, high unit detail, and reflection glints. Even if I was able to play in huge settings, I dont like it, because the units will lose maneuverability. In my old 9250 I used medium settings, no anti-aliasing, no grass, medium unit detail and no reflection glints.

Huge size, medium detail is what I play on. It just looks a lot more stupid to see a small, or medium unit size while your playing, doesn't give you as much satisfication in commanding them.

I play on huge settings, max graphics. I sometimes take the grass off because I think the grass looks damn awful.

I play on huge, medium graphics. I don't have problems ( only maybe in a huge city siege, too many objects and units to render )

Why buying a 8800 Ultra, when 8800 GTS is out (at half price...)
