Preferences file - Unit experience upgrade effect

Anyone know what it changes if you switch this from TRUE to FALSE?

Also, how does Unlimited Men on Battlefield work?

for the experience upgrade effect it allows you units to earn experience through battle.
For the unlimited men on battlefield what it does if it FALSE and you have lots of men involved in the battlefield that surpass the recommended setting for your system then it will tell you reinforcements delayed turn it to FLASE to have all the men on the field.

So how do units gain experience without fighting?

Sometimes units gain experience by simply being on the battlefield. I've had an AI army run away quite soon after the battle starts only to find that a unit or two has gained experience.

Maybe, if you switch this setting to FALSE they won't gain any experience. Don't really know why you are changing this anyway unless you want the game to be harder to play. An experienced unit is more effective than a rookie unit.

You may be able to get upgrades / experience through training.

I simply thought that it disabled the little glow they get.

The glow is when they have gained some experience.

I think this might be correct - units still gain experience but the glow fx isn't present. I say this simply because I can't see this line in the preferences.txt for the vanilla game.
