This is my thread in response to Fuzz's Legionary award threads feel free to cast your vote. This is to all the Greek lovers out there.

Awards:
Go-to Hoplite: The Hoplites you use when the need is great and the job needs to be done.

Best Dressed '08: Mirror mirror on the wall, which hoplite is the sexiest of them all.

Worst Dressed '08: And then there are the hoplites that break the mirror.

The Little Hoplite That Couldn't: Pretty self explanatory, the hoplite army that just fails at everything it does.

Favorite Hoplite: Your most beloved hoplites, great and small.

Go-to Hoplite: I would have to say the Athenians. They always get the job done at an affordable cost.

Best Dressed '08: Syracuse! Duh! How can't you love the Syracusians. They have a royal look to them and an aura of superiority.

Worst Dressed '08: I'd have to go with the Bosphorans. Very dull looking and bland.

The Little Hoplite That Couldn't: The Sicilians. They look pretty, but they just can't seem to do the job against Rome and Carthage.

Favorite Hoplite: I'd have to say Syracuse. They look pretty and they kick some major ass. The Spartans are overrated. The Hoplites of Pergamum are a close second to the Syracusians though.

The Little Hoplite That Couldn't: Tarentum Hoplites - I find that I usually get the oppertunity to use these against the Romans, and they are just not up to the job.

Favorite Hoplite: - Syracusian Hoplites, very cool colour scheme and pretty powerful.

Wow, I thought Athenians were underrated.

I use athenian hoplites as a go-to unit:
a) if I'm playing as the GCS then Athens starts with a high enough population ot build a fair number of them and are often the bulk of my army in the early game.
b) if I'm playing as one of the other hellenic factions or colonies then by the time I conquer Athens even with exterminating (relocating) the population it still has a ridiculously high population and is almost fully upgraded so I can essentially spam them to take on the rest of the peninsula.

Worst dressed '08: Syracuse- something about these guys just says 'pimp' to me

The Little Hoplite that couldn't: Agema Hypaspistoon They're not exactly city hoplites but they really are terrible, as elites, they oddly have worse stats than most other hoplites, such as Athenians or Armoured ones.

Favourite Hoplite: Cretans, they always get badly beaten up but that usually means that everyone else is dead as a result, if there was an award for underdog hoplite, they would win it for me.

Go-to Hoplite: I think everyone is going to say Athenians, just because they are the only hoplites that you can get in mainland Greece in the beginning of a campaign. Retraining is easy and you can deliver troops fast, because Athens is very well positioned.

Best Dressed '08: Hmm, I'd have to say Cyrenaican hoplites (they are smexy)

Worst Dressed '08: Ephesians.. A bumblebee on their shields? not cool

The Little Hoplite That Couldn't: I guess this one is purely personal, since all the hoplites have equal stats. lol. I think they all are able to crush my enemies.

Go-to Hoplite: the athenians, because their city have a isolated location, is well developed and have a high population.

Best Dressed '08: the syracusans, they look very royal with that white and purple dressing.

Worst Dressed '08: the byzantines, their shield is sometimes boring to look at.

Favorite Hoplite: the spartans are my favorites, but they are expensive.

Worst Dressed '08: Bosphoran- they look bland.
