Default 3DS MAX 2008, Info and questions.

Right, I downloaded the demo, messing around for about a day, couldent figure what to do. but the next day before i could look at a tutorial, it ended up not working, so i deleted it.

i want to get into the dark and difficult area of rome modding etc etc,

and what i really wanna know is it really worth it to pay over 4000$ for it ? is there any other programs that emulate the things that make it worthwhile to skin with it ? for say half the price or even FREE PROGRAM ? as if i buy it and its end up same as another program id be pissed.

thanks, ill be awaiting your humble opinions.

you don't skin with 3ds max. Max is used to create 3d models but skinning os done with programs such as photoshop, etc. Also if you own MIITW, now you can use milkshape for medeling which costs about 30$

Basically yes. The models are the .cas files and the textures the .tga.dds files. You can use Gimp to open and edit textures for example. It`s free and it has a dds plugin available(not incorporated). There are tutorials on how to use both in the section on guides above. There are even video tutorials for 3dsmax.

Is 3DMax similar to the Poser programme?
