I was just wondering what you guys thoguh with the limited total war slots, what is the most historical army compilation i can have in one army?
I'm not sure what you are asking. Generally speaking, NTW2 was created with a 10k florin limit per person in multiplayer settings. I have seen other ways of counting out the coin though and there was an interesting handicap form of play about for some time that lowered or raised your florin count by 200 when you lost or won respectively.
I do not see why you could not purchase 20 units to fill the unit slots allocated to each army during the selection screen. You may have to have say one less guard unit or one less arty piece for certain army compositions but there's all the room to fiddle with cash.

"Historical Compositions" is a tough one, cheatham. There are N2 players with much time on their hands who just fiddle with OOB's (Order of Battle), and still the debate rages. For one, since we normally play on 'large' settings, there will be 120 men per infantry unit and 60 per cav. Thus if you place yourself in 'real' mode, you would think of them as company-sized units. So with France, say, get 8 infantry companies, 1 gren and 1 volt and you have an infantry battalion. Augment this with artillery and cavalry, and you have an 'augmented battalion.'
Sometimes you have to just toy with it, find out what suits you best (other than 10 arty units and some cavalry) and test your OOB against other players.
Yes, I hate the fact RTW is out and I still have a Japanese title. Come on now admins- let's get with the program.
