    Default The game doesn't suck...

    Just looking thru posts and again with the comments about calvary doesn't do this, gates don't close when I do that, AI doesn't make sense etc....

    Of course its not perfect, but I noticed I spent $50 at Blockbuster in the last 2 months and probably got 10 movies worth, or roughly 25 hours of entertainment. I have got more than that with 1 VH/VH campaign!

    There is amazing support from the people doing mods, there are a dozen different strategies at least to try, and in general its a very balanced equation, with all the rough spots having amazing things on the other end. I **** a lot too, but having just finished a Polish VH/VH in SS 5.1 with some awesome horse on elephant action I had to admit that I still had fun, even tho its my 9th campaign. Shouts out to MTW2!!!

    Indeed the game doesn't suck, especially when patched and/or modded.

    I've never played any video game with as much replay value as this one.

    Rome lasted longer for me, but this game was still amazing. If you didn't like this game that's probably because you never figured out how to win. Really. cavalry plays a lesser role (most of the times) in battles anyway. I have yet to fight a battle that revolved around cavalry (save horse archers)

    It's just disappointment with the AI. People want a more agressive and responsive AI...Don't take their criticisms too seriously..it's like listening to a family quarrel around the dinner table. They seem to be ready to kill each other, but they're still family...

    Hehe, Without Cavalry support I never do battles, having Archers is a bonus but I Don't need them as the Moors,

    Heres my strategy that wins 95% of my Battles, only way I lose is If their in the Woods and my Cavalry run into interference from Ambush

    There is no such thing as a perfectly made game and there probably never will be. Game makers that try to do so, trying to fix this, only to have to fix that and then rework this, that and the other thing while integrating new features brought about by new hardware only to have to fix something else, only make vaporware.

    When their flanking cavalry outnumbers yours, though, you're screwed

    Yeah, a very good game, if anyone in this forum complains, just point out they've chosen a TW forum out of any others to visit.

    Agree with the AI improvement. Its not that its hard to get the AI to work better. Its just that its gonna take more time. But other developers have done it. Just look at Galactic Civilizations.

    M2TW is not a great game. It is a game with überpownageous potential of becoming the best and most successful strategy/tactical/economy game in history of the gaming industry, but ended *only* great due to lack of dev's competence in programming and SEGA's competence as a publisher (for not whipping CA into making the game decently bug-free *before* releasing it).

    I'd add more, but gotta go give a lecture on my proseminar of coarse geometry.

    I'd say it's better than vanilla RTW with it's flaming pigs and arcani.

    If you are so dissatisfied with it why do you bother to continue to play? Seems with as many gripes as you have about the game you would have moved on to another long ago.

    No the game definitely doesn't suck, and considering TW games have been out for nearly a decade now, with great success but still other companies can't successfully emulate them, it prooves the great content of a TW title.
    It was, however, released with A LOT of bugs that seriously hampered the gameplay that TW fans are accustomed to, and even now still has some issues that need to be addressed.

    Curiously, the more I play MTW2, the more I like it. But, I live in Houston and we are used to bugs.

    Hell, call me a nerd or whatsoever, I've played nearly 600 hours of M2TW according to my Xfire profile. Ofcourse there are bugs, but when you weigh the pro's and the contra's this game is certainly worth the €50 euro's i spent on it.

    RTW --> About $30 paid and about 500 hours played (so far) = 6 pennies per hour of play + 3 cents/ hour for electricity = 9 cents/hour.

    M2TW --> About $40 paid and about 250 hours played (so far) = 16 pennies per hour of play + 3 cents per hour for electricity = 19 cents/hour.

    Television --> $45/month for cable for about 4 hours/day of tv = 120 hours per month = 37.5 cents/hour + 1.5 cent/hour for electricity = 39 cents/hour.

    Playing RTW --> 9 cents/hour (and dropping)
    Playing M2TW --> 19 cents/hour
    (and dropping)
    Watching TV --> 39 cents/hour
    Excercise at YMCA --> 100 cents/hour
    Eating a brown bag lunch --> 140 cents/hour
    Playing WoW --> 150 cents/hour
    Lying on my sofa, like a beached whale --> 155 cents/hour
    O.K. this includes house payments, taxes and utilities, and should be added to everything else I do in the house.
    Reading a novel --> 170 cents/hour
    Eating lunch out (by myself) --> 700 cents/hour
    Taking wife out on a date --> 2000 cents/hour
    Taking family out for dinner --> 3000 cents/hour
    Taking daughter out shopping --> 7000 cents/hour

    Man! It costs over twice as much to watch TV as it costs to play TW (and I enjoy TW a lot more)!

    For what it costs to each lunch out, alone, I could play M2TW for 44 hours!

    I've gotten my money's worth (on the TW series, at least).

    Opposite. It is too easy to win.
    It's redundant to write your username at the end of your post,
