    Default goals, suggestions, achievements and DLV

    I belive this mod once was uniqe and one of a kind. but for every new patch, etc. it seems that it is just walking round in circles. changing little bit her and little bit there. few steps back, few steps forward.... without any public goal.

    Sometimes rpg udates, sometimes strategi/TW updates. I belive it would be much easyier if you sometimes focused on one thing. "the next update we will make progress in the RPG-era and impoving agents" talk with others who have achived your goals. And make every one aware about whats you want. Then every body can debate and "team-up" about a subject, more ideas and inputs = Quicker and more focused way to get a more uniqe gameplay.

    Im open to every constructive viewpoint.
    Do you think we should focus more on this?

Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
    I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    DLV has a pretty unique gameplay. Is there any other mod that has so many RPG elements in it?

    While we are always open to ideas & suggestions some are inevitably not taken on board because there is just no way to implement them due to hard coded issues. Witness isilendil's recent buildings additions, repman's navigable rivers & other innovations. Other DLVelopers are also working on new ideas suggested by the mod's fanatical fans.

    I have to disagree with the last part of your post however. A mod run by a committee will get nowhere. In the end the work & implementing of ideas has to be done by the people that are actually doing it or it would be a complete nightmare trying to satisfy everybody's whishes and very quickly lose focus and also the people willing to put in the long tedious hours that are required to make any mod.

    Did you make something for DLV? We spend some hundred or thousand hours for this mod...

    @blackleaf
    DLV progresses in different areas with different speed at the same time, roleplay, battles, techtree,....
    The main part of DLV is already done, so the actual work is finetuning. New ideas are popping up during thew night,...there is no projectplan...lol

    If you have new gameplay suggestions then suggest them for investigation. I'm not interested in new skin, new factions, removal proposals.

    Offcourse, since I opened this post, I got atlreast one thing we all should focus more on:
    (RPG)

    - If you take a look at all the modern rpg-games out there: Star Wars Knights of the old Republic or Mass Effect; You start out with some gear, you upgrade etc. and as you go through the game. Then. At some point, you need to choose between an ultimatum, which turns the whole table you're playing, upside down.
    I belive this once was introduced in Kingdoms, where you had to choose religion as lithuania.
    Then in DLV, you have to choose between General or Governor, it was Great and it made dlv uniqe in my eyes.
    The Banquet, the great hunt etc = great!
    If we introduce more of theese "ultimatum's", and were they will have a great inpack in future gameplay.

    On the other hand, this is sure to get boring - if you are an addict of DLV/Total war.

    therefor, I suggest this feature/function/ultimatum to be unique text and for for every faction or factions in an area:

    --------------------------------------------------
    Letter from The Holy Pope
    "Target: settlements; Bourdux/touluse/Aragon etc
    Riot
    Report from the Bishops: Catalans is stirring up national and religious issues whith Nobles and the Holy Pope himself. In theese troubled time we demand action!

    *The letter continues with migthy words and a little history"

    |Wage war, and exterminate the traitorous noblers(citys who included Catalan-peoples) and followers of the catalans, or meet the rage of the Holy Father.|

    Do the Kingdom of France(or Castille/Leon) accept demands from the holy church?

    (V) (X)

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    the DLV team do not have to create a new faction etc. only "this letter" whith a clear mission from a groupe of people or faction(s).
    The theam of the letter is an ultimatum of Diplomatic interest or RPG-traits of the players faction.
    This will make the game more unique and more fun to play every faction to find out what events will occur.

    English is my secound lanuage, so please keep an open-mind.

    @isilendil
    I belive DLV is the most complex mod out there, and the most dedicated team. Infact, I dont belive how you do it, and I have great respect for all hours spent. Dont get me wrong.
    I only wish to organize this in a basic way, were people(like me and other fanatics) who dont know how much it takes to mod anything.

    Therefor I try to get involved, and learn what I can way before I pretend to know how to mod.

    @Harry Lime
    I suggest this, so that I or some other fans could maintain an informative suggestion thread for beginners. with an Index were it explains very basic, the possiblitys and what is impossible etc.

    I only try to dicuss knowledge, possibilitys and hopefully learn more. so I one day make a mini mod and...

    @repman.
    If the team have their hands full with things to do, it is ok. I wont bother you no more.

    Anyway. If you go offtopic and out of the box. You now know my intentions. Do you got good tips for someone who want to contributate?

    Hi Blackleaf,

    I get your points. Good you see that we run on enthusiasum and have no committee structure. It's really a collection of knights who have all made fair alliance to work together, lending skill in what area they are comfortable. It self regulates - I can't recall a single spat in this team since the day after the first day when DLVanilla decended and changed that vanilla game forever.

    No doubt by 7.0 there will be many more RPG ultimatum's spicing the game up.

    best,

    Makes sense to me.

    If you want to suggest an idea, you can simply make a thread about it or PM one of the guys who spend so much time working on it. I have a couple of times and they have responded instead of just ignoring me, I'm sure you will get the same treatment. The developers of this mod really are great guys and they do alot for us.

    This mod has an amazing team that takes tons of ideas on board from it's fans. Believe me, if you don't think it does than you haven't spent enough time around here to find out.

    The open discussion on role playing thread comes to mind right of the top of my head. That was a thread that had a direct impact on 5.4 and it was the DLV team themselves that initiated the discussion for opinions from the public. It was a spirited discussion and it was a great ( and rare ) thing to see on a mod board. Seriously Black Leaf, I defy you to find a Mod Community that is more responsive.

    I've been playing DLV almost from the beginning and the amount of work these guys have done in the last year is insane. Sit back, enjoy the ride... It gets better and better with every update. If they need your help.... I'm sure they will let you know.

    I've complained about the AI for ages, now 5.4's battle and strat AI is giving me the hardest (but most fun) games ever. It just takes time...
