How do I get hotseat to work on the vanilla Grand Campaign?

I bought a retail version of M2, and later the steam version of Kingdoms. Thus far I have not been able to get the retrofit mod to work with the steam version of Kingdoms, but I really want to play hotseat on the original Grand Campaign. How would I set that up? Thanks for any help.

If you're just planning to play by yourself or a live hotseat (same computer) with someone else then you may want slightly different settings, which are talked about in that thread too.
