Good book, I was able to read that for a course!
Seconded. I used it as my prime source for my major history assignment last year! (resulting in a solid A ^^)

Well our grades are scaled differently, and I guess my focus was a bit different from yours. Mine was on the effect of the Norman conquest on the development of the feudal system in a society outside of the traditional sphere of feudalism.

Have you come across John Robb's Punk Rock: An Oral History? Good take on the British version of Please Kill Me.
I will have to check out that. Thanks a lot for the tip man.

The book have given me so many laughs, chills and flashbacks while reading the book. Quite amazing stuff really. Do you still remember who had to save Iggy from the pool time after time again since he had a bad habit of passing out and falling in there, learning eventually to swim while Iggys mates couldn't care a one bit.

Heh, I'll have to recollect that one. Would it be Sable Starr? Or the ever lovable Danny Fields? ( heh heh ).

I still have fond memories of Foundation, despite Asimov's shortcomings as an author.

In later life Asimov wrote some Foundation sequels: Foundation's Edge and Foundation and Earth. I found these rather pedantic and long winded, probably because he was using them as part of his grand project to unite his Foundation and Robot books.

He then went on to write two prequels: Prelude to Foundation, Forward the Foundation. I found these much more satisfying, especially the latter which was cut short by Asimov's own death, and yet contains what could be his best characterisation (he clearly identified strongly with Hari Seldon).

Some of my favourite authors wrote a tribute trilogy: Foundations Fear (Greg Benford), Foundation and Chaos (Greg Bear) and Foundations Triumph (David Brin). I found the first and last of these especially interesting, so I would recommend them all to Foundation fans.

PS. Did you spot that Bel Riose is modelled on Belisarius?
