Speaking of Star Wars, I have read Queen's Shadow since I was unable to sleep last night so I stayed awake and finished it in one night. For a YA novel I liked it. I will probably read Queen's Peril and then the Leia YA novel since they are all connected.

I should be done with 119 and 120 by tomorrow night if that is the case.

I don't think I will finish the Conqueror's series, Aftermath, or Old Republic at this rate, unfortunately. But I should still finish my overall stretch goal of 122 by the 365 day mark (1/21/22)

Has anyone here read East of Eden by Steinbeck? I think that will be my final book of this goal.

Been reading Dreaming The Eagle by Manda Scott. It's the start of my sub-goal for this year's overall read (reading through English history through novels). It's a pretty interesting book so far. Takes place during Boudica's early years.

'A human look of a domesticated animal.'

    Terrifying book.
When you're done with all the horrors, it just hits you on the head with a club, in the end.
    I loved it.

Finished Heinlein's Starship Troopers. Neat little book. Not sure how he actually thought he would get away with designating it as a "juvenile" book for the time period but whatever.

    124. I have four days remaining.

As I've mentioned before, and will mentioned again, I am genuinely and consistently impressed by the number of books you've managed to get through this year.

Not as many as I would like, but I am eight books deep already this year if you overlap them. But I have no idea what I am doing in terms of goals beyond my weird "Read british history through novels" goal that I have.

My name is Batman, and I am a dirty ing liar.

I powered through 3/4 of East of Eden over the last two days and finished it.

I have two novellas (Heart of Darkness being one of them) and possibly a partially completed Lemony Snicket book to finish by tomorrow (1/21) night. If I do finish those I will finish the year at 128. Not quite 130 but considering I started at 52 as my goal, I will take it.

Ardennes 1944 - a splendid detailing of the infamous Battle of the Bulge / Battle of Bastogne. Reading right now.
    Ja mata, TosaInu. Forever remembered.

    Total War Org - https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming over France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A finished novel, published on TWC.

I did not read those novellas, so East of Eden was it for the 365 day reading period. 125 books

I want to take a break since I recently finished the much larger than anticipated Dreaming The Eagle. I'm looking forward to reading the following three books but I need a break. Might read the second Foundation book next.

Did you recently finish the first Foundation book or did you read that awhile ago? It's hard to remember a timeline at this point .

Foundation is one of my favorite trilogies so I'm interested in hearing what you thought about them.

I did yes. I read I, Robot and Foundation in the same week cause I realized I had not read any of Asimov over the whole year.

I bought the rest of the series but accidentally spoiled myself because I thought "Second Foundation" was the second book. Whoops. So I will start Foundation and Empire soon. Wasn't able to get to it tonight.

I just read "The Carpet Weaver of Usak" by Kathryn Gauci. Not something I expected to read, glad I did. Long story short centres around a village in Anatolia around 1914-1922 the village was compromised for years of Greeks and Turks, separate but living together as friends. Till the war.

Read the first Jack Reacher novel in anticipation of the Amazon series. Was quite the page turner.

Will eventually start the second novel. Right now making my way through Concrete Blonde, the third Bosch novel. Just needed a break from sci-fi for a bit.

I keep hearing about it but the name "Jack Reacher" sounds so stupid to me I've never looked into it any further.

Sounds like you found it to be quite good though.

I might give that a go, I have seen the two Jack Reacher films. You must ask yourself who comes up with the names of these characters?

I am reading some Ursula LeGuin to Cyclops Jnr. We finished A Wizard of EarthSea and are in the labyrinth of The Tombs of Atuan. Superb stuff, each book a small gem.

I recall the trilogy fondly, someone mentioned the later EarthSea books are trash, anyone read them?
