    there will be. they're gonna be redone mind! however, i will point out that some units won't be around - like the Tarentine Hoplites, but there'll be others - Massilian Hoplites, for example!

    Yes. I think it gives a really good auxilia armie idea ! .
    Do you know what's the next preview faction?

    it could be the Ptolemies, the Getai (that's the Dacians to those of you that don't know), or (unlikely though) one of the two remaining Celtic factions that will remain nameless.

    OH GOD.

    Which one of my beloved city hoplites are being removed?!?!? Tarentum were the only AP hide only ones... Get rid of sicilian and cyprus hoplites if you have to.

    i think it's just the tarentines, since Rome starts off with Tarentum under their control.

    Doesn't mean i wouldn't want to build them when my greek phalanx finally get out there (not that I've ever made it that far with the greeks yet BUT...)

    It's good news if it's only one, and I'm really glad to hear there will be more of them, they really add some nice variety to the greek unit lists.

    My favorite city hoplites are the Syracusians. They just have a regal feel to them with that gold and purple. I use them to defend Syracuse personally and serve as a royal guard to the King.

    The rebels hold Syracuse in my current campaign, they have three full stacks of whatever hoplites are black and whichever are purple.

    Can't get rid of em.

    Translation:

    Black=not that bad
    purple=begin prayer now.

    Additionally light blue/gold=begin hating your life now.

    I did like those tarentum hoplites though, they don't look that good on paper, but the AP they have, which no other hoplite has, was a huge advantage, as was the hiding. Ah well, maybe I can move them to Ephesus or something.

    What's the difference between Syracusian and Sicilian hoplites gameplay wise? They both have the same stats, so how are the Syracusian harder to defeat than the Sicilian?

    Actually, none of them got 'removed'...the Tarentine Hoplite will just become a 'Bithynian Hoplite', and the Sicilian Hoplite becomes 'Massilian'. There is no point in having a tarentine hoplite anyway...no true Roman would use such a disgustingly outdated unit, (gets blindsided by unknown individuals) and no one other than Rome is supposed to hold the region.

    But seriously, since both Massilia and Bithynia are probable swap factions, it made more sense to have them there. Syracuse will still have it's hoplites, however.
