So besides this one of coursewhat is the best Greek mod for RTW you've ever played??? Feel free to list more than one. I want to be surprised...
I would highly suggest XGM: Diadochi, it is a very good sub-mod of XGM. Lots of new units and factions, concentrating mostly on the Aegean factions with an attention to historical accuracy.

Wow I've never heard of XGMD I'm def gonna give that a try. And as for EB I've been giving some thought as too if I'd try that maybe if I get bored with XGM. Honestly I'm looking for the best Spartan campaign available. I just wanna lead an invincible army of Lacedaemonians across the world!!! And if we lose a battle then we all perish... like the Spartans of old![]()
EB is definitely worth trying. The devs re-made the Medieval II engine and applied it to RTW, some of the best-looking units ever. The map is also much larger and totally different. Pace is slightly slower than original RTW, and you have to remember to click on a city then click on show-me-how button to activate the campaign script, but it's easy after a few turns and the mod is definitely very recommended. The factions are very balanced (with each rebel city almost a mini-faction, with between 10 to 20 units), the victory condition is conquering the lands each faction actually did in history. Check out all the units at europabarbarorum.com or was it .org or look here and scroll down:

And to optimize EB speed look here, i even bookmarked the page:

The most in-depth history mod in my opinion (because of the quantity of materiel in there it's almost another game, however I haven't played Greece in EB yet), even with units voice in original ancient languages. And yes, to really enjoy it make sure you are at least OK in playing RTW, meaning winning at least one campaign on medium/medium.
I don't think I can say there is a best Greek mod, mostly because I haven't tried Greece in EB, RTRPE, Iberia Total War and Rise of Persia yet. This mod is the first time I extensively played Greece though, and it's great. I just haven't tried the other Greek mods yet so I can't say any is greater than other mods (also don't want to discourage any modders since it takes months to make a mod).

EB -is not for beginners and is heavily scripted - takes a long time to load/play on anything but an ultra modern PC.
I personally do not like it graphically but it has a extreme amount of depth to it - very historically accurate - but requires good hardware.

In EB you used to get spartan royal guard style unit as your generals' bodyguards (v0.8) i.e. every general - no cavalry as the Greek faction.
I haven't played EB 1.0 other than starting a Rome campaign and playing 5 turns, so I do not know if this is still the case

Hey I'll give it a try... what do I have to lose right? My computer def isn't modern but it's not old either. I think it'll do just fine. I like the Spartan Guard as a bodyguard thing. And the EB mod seems right up my alley since I love historical accuracy. Sounds great!!! So we got XGMD and EB so far... anymore takers???
It happens that this is no longer the case. The Spartiate being the General(s) Bodyguard was a placeholder in a manner of speaking in the previous build. The General(s) unit has now been replaced with Epilektoi Hoplitai as of the 1.0 build. Which is a great looking and performing unit BTW. As the Koinon Hellenon "Alliance of the Hellenes" aka Greek City States you do have access to plenty of cavalry albeit thru regionals "AoR" and mercs. Of course the "home grown" cavalry so to speak that the KH is able to produce is perhaps limited as of course they weren't as cavalry inclined as their Makedonian neighbor to the north. EB has great looking units for their Greek faction and their Successor units are probably even better. However if your strictly a "Sparta" fan, then perhaps you wouldn't find it as appealing as others. Since in EB there is only one type of Spartiate your able to recruit. Where as in XGM you have 2, hoplite and phalangite. Of course you could always just mod more Spartans in. In my EB build I use their Spartans as well as a couple of ATG Spartans. Love them ATG Spartans. Best looking Spartans anywhere IMHO. Historical accuracy be damned![]()

I can't wait!!! Rumor is their beta is coming soon.......
Is it going to have a campaign map? Also RS is pretty good for the Greeks.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

"Of course... it concentrates on Greece and extends west to Italy and East to Asia Minor."
Ok cool, for some reason, for some reason I thought that it wasn't going to have one.
"Yeah RS 2.0 was announced but the release date hasn't been yet"
No I know that but the current version is what I'm talking about, which imho is as good as XGM.

Just make sure to copy your Rome folder before you install as its not contained in its own mod-folder.
