Is It just me or...
Do the chariots in XGM do a ridiculous amount of damage to an AI controlled army in the campaign mode??? Unless my faction leader is present or I have Spartans on the battlefield I usually simulate my battles but this has caused me not to be able to do that because I won't have an army left afterwards. This problem usually pops in Asia Minor... any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you!!!

You'll find that the Gauls wield ridiculous numbers of these contraptions as well.

Re: Is It just me or...
Yeah it has to be something because they wipe out some of my best armies on AI but when I control it I EASILY defeat them... especially if they only have chariots because most of the time they do. It's just a big army of chariots. Point is they're ridiculously strong and it really takes the fun out of the game for me so is there anything I can do to fix it???

Edit the EDU (export_descr_units) file to reduce the chariots hitpoints. As to how, there is a handy forum just for editing RTW on this very website. I'd check either text editing and scripting, or the tutorials.

Re: Is It just me or...
I try to avoid auto-resolve because of these sorts of peculiarities. When I get lazy and start auto-resolving is when I know when to stop playing. I liken it to placing all the troops in a blender and putting it on puree. That's why HAs traditionally did so poorly. It was like they were thrown into hand-to-hand without firing any arrows. Chariots are ridiculously weak to pikes too.

Re: Is It just me or...
Chariots are a known Auto-resolve cheat/exploit as KK says Selucids can rule the world with theirs in 20 turns.
I only use Auto resolve against weak city garrisons - less than 500 men on huge unit size when I've got a full stack (2500 + troops) of elite troops.

Re: Is It just me or...
Actually, the "EDU thing" is the way to fix it. Aradan who is one of the lead coders for the Fourth Age: Total War has come up with a great system to balance Auto Resolve, to include chariots and horse archers. In fairness, IIRC, XGM's very own DBH contributed to the info regarding this or perhaps he was relaying info I don't recall exactly. However, I'm surprised he hasn't used it in XGM yet, if that is in fact the case. The thread is over at the "org" in the scriptorium titled The Complete EDU guide by Aradan. Anyhow for those interested check it out, it's a very well written and researched guide.
Edit: Here's the link if anyone is interested. Pay specific attention to the details of the stat_health tag and the usage of hp_extra as it applies to auto resolve and the related information section.

Re: Is It just me or...
DBH has balanced Horse Archers, just not chariots. Chariots still get theri ridiculous auto-resolve bonus from vanilla that allowed the Egyptians to rule the world.

Re: Is It just me or...
Yeah I need help... ok I went to the guide and read the stat_health thingy and the related info but the only question is how do I get to whereever I need to go to change the stat_health and what do I do once there??? The guide told me how to adjust it to balance auto resolve but not how to get there or anything

Go to the data folder under the xgm folder, then find the file 'export_descr_unit' that is the file which holds the information on the stats of every unit.
MAKE A BACK UP BEFORE EDITING!
Any more questions should be directed to the modding forum, since the more experienced modders post there more often.
